1. Job Context and Purpose
Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Partner plays a pivotal role at Randstad RiseSmart by bridging the gap between raw data and strategic business decisions. This position holds end-to-end ownership of BI reporting, tasked with designing, developing, and maintaining scalable solutions that provide key insights into business performance. A critical component of this role is the heavy emphasis on collaboration with Data Engineering to design intuitive and robust datasets that serve as the foundation for the entire BI team.
Main Objectives:
- Deliver actionable insights through the creation of regional and global dashboards using Tableau and Looker.
- Ensure the availability of accurate, scalable datasets by partnering closely with data engineers and utilizing Google BigQuery.
- Drive a culture of "zero error" quality by rigorously reviewing reports and reconciling data to trusted sources.
- Mentor junior team members on BI best practices, complex technical topics, and professional growth.
2. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities and Scope
- End-to-End BI Ownership: Manage the full lifecycle of BI solutions, from gathering requirements across global timezones to technical implementation and maintenance.
- Data Modeling & Architecture: Design and build robust data marts and models using data warehouse tools (BigQuery) to support visualization needs.
- Operational & Technical Hybrid: Combine technical execution (coding, dashboarding) with operational insight to uncover inefficiencies and identify revenue growth opportunities.
Tasks and Activities
- Primary Tasks:
- Collaborate with global business users to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Build, standardize, and scale interactive dashboards using Tableau (primary) and Looker to track key business metrics.
- Write complex SQL queries and perform data modeling to support analysis.
- Participate in and lead Agile Scrum processes (Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming).
- Secondary Tasks:
- Thoroughly document all dashboards and metrics; update documentation as requirements evolve.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for BI applications for stakeholders.
- Optimize BI systems for performance and scalability.
Expected Outcomes and Accountabilities
- Outcomes: A suite of high-performance dashboards that are trusted by the business; specific identification of trends that lead to risk mitigation or revenue growth.
- Accountabilities: Ensuring underlying data reconciles to trusted sources; maintaining a "zero error" reputation for published deliverables.
Management Scope
- Scope of Management: No direct reports, but significant functional leadership.
- Mentorship: Expected to mentor teammates on complex topics, BI best practices, new tools, and professional development.
Autonomy and Decision-Making
- Decisions the role holder can make: Design choices for dashboard visualization; selection of data modeling techniques within BigQuery; prioritization of technical tasks within the Sprint.
- Decisions requiring approval: Changes to the core data warehouse architecture; selection of new BI tooling licenses.

- Internal Stakeholders: Global RiseSmart Business Leaders, Data Engineering Team, Product Managers.
- External Stakeholders: N/A (Internal Focus).
3. Profile
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Information Systems, IT, or Computer Science (Masters Degree preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Business Intelligence Developer or Analyst.
- Global Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in different time zones and cultural backgrounds.
Role Constraints
- Flexibility: Must be willing to accommodate meetings across various global time zones to gather requirements from international stakeholders.
4. Job Requirements
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Database Management: Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).
- Visualization: Expertise in BI tools and platforms, specifically Tableau (Desktop & Online) and Looker.
- Data Warehousing: Knowledge of ETL processes and cloud data warehouses, preferably Google BigQuery (GCP).
- Methodology: Proficiency in Agile Scrum practices (Sprints, Stand-ups, Jira).
