About the company

Our client is an operating group of a listed international company that acquires vertical market software companies and acts as perpetual owner for these businesses.

They currently have over 190 independently managed Business Units in over 20 countries in Europe and are now expanding globally with first acquisitions in Asia and Americas. The company offers them financial security, strategic guidance and best practices so that they can be leaders in their respective industry domain.


Context on the Role

Backed by a strong global track record, the group is now expanding its footprint in India and establishing a focused team in Mumbai to drive its growth in the Indian market with an aim to acquire technology and SaaS companies in India.

We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Business Development Associate who can thrive in an entrepreneurial, high-impact environment.

Role Overview

The primary objective of this role is to support the companys entry and expansion in the Indian market by identifying high-potential software companies, building a qualified pipeline through targeted outreach, nurture relationships and support in converting opportunities to signed mandates/LOIs.

The person will report to the Investment Director heading the India market expansion.


Key Responsibilities:


Business Development & Lead Generation (Core Focus)

  • Identify and map potential acquisition targets in SaaS, IT services, and technology sectors
  • Build and manage a strong outbound pipeline of target companies
  • Conduct outreach (calls, emails, LinkedIn) to founders, CEOs, and business owners
  • Initiate strategic conversations around partnerships, investments, and acquisitions
  • Qualify opportunities and assess founder interest levels


2) Screening & Qualification

  • Lead first meetings and discovery, assess strategic fit
  • Keep CRM immaculate with contacts, call notes, next actions, stage definitions


3) Market Presence & Intelligence

  • Create and manage a coverage calendar (conferences, roadshows, banker meets) and a quarterly A/B/C-ranked target list, aligned to company priorities.


What We're Looking For

  • Self-starting, disciplined, target- and relation focused business developer
  • 25 years of experience in SaaS Sales, IT Sales, B2B Business Development, Enterprise Sales, or Corporate Development
  • Strong experience in outbound lead generation and cold calling
  • Exposure to engaging with CXOs, founders, or senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build and manage a sales pipeline
  • Comfort handling strategic business conversations
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and key business metrics, with a sound grasp of P&L, ownership structures, and primary growth drivers.
  • Excellent sales and business acumen
  • High energy, entrepreneurial mindset, and strong ownership
  • A true team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications

  • B-Tech/MBA Finance / Related from a reputed Institution
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other lead generation tools (E.g. Sales Navigator)
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
