Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Business Affairs Manager to join our India hub and play a key role in the set-up of this exciting new ecosystem. The potential for growth here will be unlimited.
This position is newly created with the aim of building out a global business affairs, clearance, and distribution function in India. Whilst initially focused on a key global account, our intention is to grow and develop this function to become a core pillar supporting other Power of One models.
Job Description:
Business Affairs Specific Duties:
- Manage and track usage rights across content, talent, music, footage, and third-party materials, ensuring accuracy and ongoing compliance.
- Support and, where appropriate, lead negotiation of usage terms with internal stakeholders, producers, talent representatives, and external rights holders.
- Maintain and oversee rights tracking systems, including monitoring expiration dates, territory, media, and term restrictions.
- Advise internal teams on usage, clearance, and risk implications across broadcast, digital, and multi-platform distribution.
- Partner with regional and global Business Affairs colleagues to ensure consistent application of rights frameworks and policies across markets.
- Act as a trusted Business Affairs contact for production, programming, and distribution teams, escalating risks and proposing commercially sound solutions.
Clearance, Distribution and Operational Duties
- Set up, lead, and develop a small team of coordinators responsible for clearance checks, broadcast submissions, and distribution support.
- Define and implement clearance and distribution workflows, ensuring only fully cleared and approved assets are released for broadcast or platform delivery.
- Oversee broadcast traffic and distribution activity, including submission to stations or platforms, confirmation of receipt and airing, and issue resolution.
- Ensure robust documentation, audit trails, and reporting supporting clearance decisions and distribution activity.
- Act as the primary escalation point for clearance conflicts, distribution errors, or delivery failures.
- Drive consistency, service quality, and continuous improvement within the hub, aligned to global Business Affairs standards.
Skills and Experience
- Approx. 5 years of experience in Rights Management / Business Affairs areas, with a non-negotiable focus on clearance and distribution knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of the complexity of IP rights, including administration, tracking, and required management procedures for safe operations.
- Exceptional attention to detail; extremely well organized with a clear understanding of the importance of accuracy in this field.
- Project management experience across multiple complex projects, time zones, and markets, involving a wide range of professional relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and accurately to stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable making decisions based on available information and justifying them conscientiously and confidently.
- A collaborative team player with some line management experience, keen to take on a hands-on role in an expanding organisation and gain exposure to different facets of the business.
- Enthusiasm for day-to-day operations as well as playing a key strategic role in developing the department and wider team.
