Job Description
Company Description
Sthyr Energy Private Limited, a start-up founded at IIT Madras, is revolutionizing grid-scale energy storage with its innovative zinc-air battery technology. The company focuses on long-duration energy storage solutions that address renewable energy challenges such as solar and wind energy curtailment, contributing to sustainability and reduced carbon emissions. Our vision is to store surplus renewable energy from high-generation seasons as metallic zinc and deploy it reliably during periods of low generation. Designed for long-duration storage, our system can preserve energy for months and deliver extended backup power when needed. By bridging seasonal gaps in renewables, we are enabling truly reliable, round-the-clock clean energy.
If you are passionate about building scalable, high-impact energy systems that can accelerate the global shift to sustainable power, we invite you to be part of this transformative journey.
Role Description
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled BMS & Embedded Systems Engineer to support the development of battery management and embedded control systems for our Zinc-Air battery modules and regeneration units. The selected candidate will work on sensing, data acquisition, control logic, and embedded firmware development for monitoring and managing long-duration energy storage systems. A key part of this role will involve designing reliable, low-power, and cost-effective embedded solutions suitable for real-world battery applications and integration with higher-level energy management platforms.
Qualifications
- Expertise in embedded C/C++ programming on microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, AVR, or similar).
- Understanding of battery management systems (voltage/current sensing, temperature monitoring, SOC estimation).
- Experience in Software Development, including coding techniques and tools relevant to energy systems.
- Experience with PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium, or Eagle) is a plus.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to innovate in complex electrical and energy systems.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field is preferred.
