Software Engineer to:
• Maintain and enhance batch infrastructure and tools written in COBOL and REXX
• Cooperate with clients to analyze and resolve issues
• Design and implement solutions for new requirements
• Test and integrate changes and new code
• Take on roles in projects

Batch Engineering is an agile Product Oriented Delivery team (POD) within the Mainframe and Midrange
Services crew providing technology platforms to underpin our partners’ business applications. You will be
part of Technology Services, which has a global footprint and works with clients and teams spread across
the world. Together we drive consistency across business divisions and optimize operations and costs, by
providing timely, robust, and cost-effective solutions and products to our clients.
You will be working as part of the technology division in Zürich. As a Software Engineer you will be
responsible for the UBS in-house developed batch middleware and batch tools running on IBM
mainframe. The team is responsible for their stability and further development. In this function the team
has plenty of opportunities to collaborate with many other UBS departments. Teamwork is pivotal to the

Your expertise

Your experience and skills
• Overall 12+years and extensive experience in COBOL, REXX, ISPF programming and DB2/SQL on IBM mainframe
• deep knowledge of IBM Z Workload Scheduler and Job Control Language (JCL)
• experience with test methodologies for applications running on IBM Mainframe
• experience with software development processes and tools, change management and
deployment tools, Gitlab and Agile practices
• excellent understanding of batch job and program restart methodologies and tools, such as
Smart/Restart and BMC ARC
• strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• communication skills
• experience in Microsoft Office products
• Python programming skills are an advantage
• English language skills, both in speaking and writing (German not mandatory but welcome)
