Backend Lead

About the Role:

We are looking for aSenior Backend Engineer / Backend Lead to own and drive the backend systems of our investment platform offeringMutual Funds, Digital Gold/Silver, and Fixed Deposits .

This is ahigh-ownership role in a fast-moving startup environment. You will be responsible not just for writing code, but forarchitecture, delivery, reliability, compliance readiness, and team coordination .

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Engineering & Architecture

• Design, develop, and maintainscalable backend services usingDjango & Django REST Framework
• Ownend-to-end backend architecture for new features, including data models, APIs, caching, and async workflows
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following best practices
• Optimize database queries and application performance usingMySQL and Redis
• Integrate withthird-party partners (payment gateways, KYC providers, depositories, investment platforms, etc.)
• Ensure reliability, idempotency, and fault tolerance in external integrations

DevOps, Cloud & Reliability

• ManageAWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Own deployment pipelines, environment configurations, and production releases
• Monitor application health, logs, metrics, and alerts
• Troubleshoot and resolveproduction issues and incidents with urgency

Compliance & Regulatory Readiness (FinTech)

• Track and implementregulatory, compliance, and operational changes relevant to fintech/investment platforms
• Prioritize compliance-related changes and ensure minimal business disruption
• Work closely with compliance, operations, and external partners when required

Planning, Ownership & Delivery

• Participate insprint planning , estimations, and prioritization
• Translate product requirements into technical designs and implementation plans
• Own delivery timelines and ensure high-quality releases
• Maintain cleartechnical documentation for architecture, APIs, and workflows

Team Collaboration & Leadership

• Act as thetechnical point of contact for backend systems
• Supervise and review backend and frontend work to ensure smooth integration
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure engineering best practices
• Coordinate with product, frontend, QA, and operations teams for timely delivery

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have:

• 4+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong expertise inPython, Django, and Django REST Framework
• Hands-on experience withMySQL (schema design, indexing, query optimization)
• Experience withRedis for caching and performance optimization
• Strong understanding ofCelery and asynchronous task processing
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications onAWS
• Solid understanding ofREST APIs , authentication, authorization, and security best practices
• Experience handlingproduction systems and live user traffic

Good to have:

• Prior experience inFinTech / Payments / Investment platforms
• Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven development
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
• Exposure to monitoring tools and observability practices
• Experience working inearly-stage or fast-growing startups
