Backend Engineer (Node.js / Python) – AWS & DevOps

Over the last few years, software has become central to how we operate. We are now investing further in internal and external platforms that improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making across the organization, tightly integrated with ERP and CRM systems.

About the Role

We are looking for a backend-heavy software engineer with strong experience in Node.js , working knowledge of Python , and hands-on AWS + DevOps ownership .

This is not a frontend-centric role . Frontend development is handled separately in React; however, you should be comfortable collaborating with frontend engineers and integrating APIs cleanly into a React application.

You will work directly with founders and business stakeholders, building systems that are actively used across sales, operations, and manufacturing. Your work will have clear, measurable impact on how the organization functions.

Typical Projects You Will Work On

You will work across a range of real-world, business-critical systems, including:

• Gamifying sales processes and KPIs using data from ERP and CRM systems
• Building inventory planning and non-moving stock liquidation platforms
• Developing dashboards and analytics for sales, operations, and management
• Digitizing shop floor and manufacturing workflows
• Integrating and extending existing ERP and CRM systems (e.g., SAP, Zoho)

These are production systems with real users not experimental or throwaway projects.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Engineering

• Design and implement backend services using Node.js (primary) and Python where appropriate
• Build well-structured REST APIs consumed by React frontends
• Implement business logic, validations, and workflow orchestration
• Work with complex, real-world data models and relational databases

Cloud & DevOps Ownership

• Deploy, operate, and maintain services on AWS
• Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
• Work with AWS services such as:
• S3 (storage)
• SQS / SNS (async processing, event-driven workflows)
• EC2 / ECS / Lambda (as appropriate)
• Manage environments (dev, staging, production)
• Monitor, debug, and improve system performance and reliability

Frontend Integration (Supporting Role)

• Collaborate with React developers on API contracts and data flows
• Ensure smooth backendfrontend integration
• Assist with minor frontend changes related to integration when needed

Technical Skills & Experience

Required

• 36 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js
• Solid working knowledge of Python
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
• Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL)
• Hands-on experience deploying and running applications on AWS
• Experience setting up or maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows

Nice to Have

• Experience with event-driven systems (queues, background workers)
• Docker and container-based deployments
• Exposure to ERP / CRM integrations (SAP, Zoho, or similar systems)
• Working knowledge of React sufficient for backend integration
• Experience working in data-heavy or operations-focused systems
