Role: Backend Engineer

Reports to: Program Manager

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about the exciting world of digital technologies, including the Internet of Things, Big Data, Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.

You will assume the role of a Backend Engineer (Python, Flask/FastAPI, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes) in our Enterprise Technology Practice. You will oversee technical strategy and delivery for our IoT advisory and implementation projects throughout their entire lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

API Development:

  • Develop scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs using frameworks like Flask or FastAPI.
  • Debug and handle errors in API operations to ensure seamless performance.

Database Management:

  • Write and optimize SQL queries for high-performance data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Maintain database integrity and ensure data security.

Containerization & Deployment:

  • Build and deploy containerized applications using Docker.
  • Manage and orchestrate containers in a production environment using Kubernetes.

Code Quality & Best Practices:

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best coding practices.
  • Implement coding standards, design patterns, and maintain code modularity.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to quality standards.

Collaboration:

  • Work with front-end developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Participate in agile workflows, sprints, and design discussions.

Performance Optimization:

  • Ensure scalability, and reliability of backend services.
  • Monitor and improve system performance through profiling and tuning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python.
  • Web Frameworks: Experience with Flask or FastAPI.
  • Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.
  • Containerization: Hands-on experience with Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • API Development: Experience in building, debugging, and maintaining APIs.

Other Skills:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and REST principles.

Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role.
