Backend Developer

Proem Sports is a sportstech firm working with sport and live event organisations to drive commercial performance. We have built a customer data platform which unifies data from all fan touchpoints to provide in-depth analytics, a fan segmentation engine and marketing capabilities to deliver actionable insights along with engagement capabilities.

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with solid experience building reliable, scalable backend systems using Python and Django . This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of hands-on experience in backend development. You will work closely with our product and engineering teams to design APIs, build high-performance services, and integrate with various internal and external systems.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services and REST APIs using Python and Django .
• Design efficient database schemas and write performant SQL queries.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party services and internal tools.
• Work with AWS services such as EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, SES to build scalable cloud-based solutions.
• Contribute to system architecture discussions and help improve application performance and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA teams.
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD improvements, and deployment processes.

• 23 years of hands-on experience with Python and Django .
• Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL .
• Experience with AWS services : EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, SES .
• Familiarity with REST API design principles.
• Experience working with Git, Docker, and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

• Experience working with Databricks or PySpark.
• Knowledge of SQLAlchemy .
• Experience with WhatsApp Business API or similar messaging integrations.
• Familiarity with asynchronous tasks (Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ ).
• Understanding of event-driven architectures or microservices.
• Exposure to monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch ).
