As a Senior Backend Engineer , you will play a critical role in designing, architecting, and scaling the backend systems that power our global learning platform. You will work closely with the CTO, CEO, and product team, owning major modules end-to-end and contributing heavily to engineering culture, best practices, and technical direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop scalable backend services using Node.js / TypeScript (Express.js / NestJS).
• Build and maintain robust APIs and microservices , including caching layers, background job workers, and distributed components.
• Design efficient SQL & NoSQL data models , ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
• Own high-level and low-level system design for major modulesfrom requirement analysis through production deployment.
• Ensure system performance, reliability, observability, and security compliance across the platform.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines , deployment workflows, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Collaborate closely with founders, product, and frontend teams to ship high-impact features quickly and reliably.
• Review code, mentor junior engineers, and promote strong engineering principles, coding standards, and best practices.
• Diagnose complex system issues, optimize performance, and implement long-term technical solutions.

Desired Qualifications & Skill Set

Were looking for someone who:

• Has 4+ years of backend development experience with deep expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js/NestJS .
• Has strong command over API design, microservices architecture , distributed systems, and modular backend frameworks.
• Understands database design and has practical experience with both SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Has built or maintained scalable production-grade systems with real user traffic (preferably in B2C startups).
• Possesses exceptional debugging, problem-solving, and architectural thinking skills.
• Has strong knowledge of CI/CD , cloud infrastructure, containerization, and DevOps-oriented workflows.
• Communicates clearly and works seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
• Is proactive, product-oriented, thrives in fast-paced startup environments, and takes full end-to-end ownership .
