Senior Backend Engineer / Backend Lead (Python, AWS, Microservices) Mumbai

About the Role

Were looking for a Senior Backend Engineer / Lead to build and scale core backend systems for a fast-growing product platform. This role is ideal for a hands-on backend engineer who enjoys owning architecture, building production systems, and working closely with founders and product teams.

Youll play a key role in designing, building, deploying, and operating scalable Python-based microservices on the cloud.

What Youll Do

• Design and build backend services and APIs using Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask)
• Architect and maintain microservices and distributed systems
• Implement asynchronous processing and messaging pipelines
• Design and optimize databases and data access layers
• Deploy and operate services on AWS
• Take ownership of systems from design to production
• Participate in system design discussions (HLD/LLD)
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and leadership teams

What Were Looking For

• 511 years of backend engineering experience
• Strong expertise in Python backend development
• Hands-on experience with microservices & distributed systems
• Experience with messaging queues (Kafka / RabbitMQ / Celery / SQS)
• Solid database fundamentals (Postgres/MySQL/MongoDB)
• Experience deploying and operating systems on AWS
• Ability to clearly explain system design and trade-offs

Nice to Have

• Docker / Kubernetes exposure
• Experience in startup or product-led environments
• Prior work in fintech / healthtech / edtech / AI startups
