Back End Developer

Roles & Responsibilities:

Server-Side Development

• Develop and maintain robust server-side applications using Node.js and Express.js.
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and modular RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.

Database Design & Management

• Architect and manage databases using MongoDB and PostgreSQL based on use case requirements.
• Ensure optimal query performance, data security, backups, and schema migrations.

Cloud Integration & DevOps

• Deploy, monitor, and manage backend services on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Utilize containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes for microservices architecture.
• Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.

API Integration

• Integrate third-party APIs (e.g., payment gateways, email services, analytics).
• Ensure secure and efficient external service communication.

Security & Authentication

• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., JWT, OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
• Follow OWASP best practices to safeguard against vulnerabilities (e.g., injection attacks, XSS, CSRF).

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Write and maintain unit, integration, and E2E tests using Jest, Supertest, or Playwright.
• Implement automated testing strategies and test coverage monitoring.

Performance Optimization

• Monitor and improve backend performance using profiling tools and APMs (e.g., New Relic, Datadog).
• Optimize APIs and database queries for speed and scalability.

Collaboration & Agile Workflow

• Collaborate closely with front-end developers (React/Next.js) and mobile teams (React Native).
• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning) and conduct code reviews.

Documentation & Maintenance

• Maintain comprehensive API and system documentation using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman.
• Ensure smooth production deployments, updates, and error tracking using tools like Sentry or LogRocket.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 2+ years of professional experience building scalable web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Proficiency in working with both SQL and NoSQL databases:
• PostgreSQL (schemas, indexing, joins, stored procedures)
• MongoDB (document models, aggregations, indexes)
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React.js or React Native (for full-stack collaboration).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, CloudFront, API Gateway).
• Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and container-based deployments.
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, Mocha, Cypress) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols (JWT, OAuth2, SAML).
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation is a plus.
• Experience working in agile development environments using tools like Jira, Git, and Bitbucket/GitHub/GitLab.
• Experience in finance, payments, or high-security domains is a strong advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, debugging techniques, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
