Job Title: Senior Backend Developer (Node.js & Python)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior Backend Developer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Node.js and Python, with hands-on experience in AI-powered document processing and working with unstructured data.

This role is ideal for someone who has worked across industries such as healthcare, insurance, and media/entertainment, understands real-world business challenges, and can translate them into scalable backend solutions. You will play a key role in building intelligent systems that process, extract, and manage data from complex documents using modern AI/ML models.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript, and Python.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs following industry best practices.
• Implement real-time communication features using WebSockets (e.g., live updates, notifications, messaging).
• Develop and integrate AI-powered document processing pipelines to handle unstructured data (PDFs, scanned documents, forms, etc.).
• Work with Large Language Models (LLMs) and ML frameworks to solve use cases related to document extraction, classification, and summarization.
• Design and manage databases using MongoDB (Mongoose) and MySQL (Drizzle ORM), including schema design, optimization, and data modeling.
• Collaborate on system architecture, including ERD design, backend workflows, and microservices planning.
• Implement secure, scalable, and high-performance backend solutions.
• Utilize Git for version control and work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Write clean, reusable, testable, and well-documented code adhering to best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance issues, including WebSocket connections and real-time data flows.
• Contribute to API documentation using Swagger (OpenAPI) and maintain organized Postman collections.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4-6 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
• Proven experience with AI/ML integration for document processing and unstructured data handling.
• Familiarity with LLMs, NLP techniques, and AI frameworks (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, or similar).
• Experience with MongoDB (Mongoose) and MySQL (Drizzle ORM) for database design and optimization.
• Solid understanding of REST standards and backend architectural principles.
• Hands-on experience with WebSockets (e.g., Socket.IO, ws) for real-time communication.
• Proficiency in Docker for containerization.
• Experience with Git and Linux-based development environments.
• Ability to design ERDs and apply backend design principles effectively.
• Proficiency in Zod or similar libraries for schema validation.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

Industry Experience (Preferred)

Candidates with hands-on experience in the following industries will have a strong advantage:

• Healthcare EHR/EMR systems, patient data processing, HIPAA compliance
• Insurance Claims processing, policy document extraction, underwriting automation
• Media & Entertainment Content management, metadata extraction, asset processing

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Knowledge of message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) for asynchronous processing.
• Experience working closely with frontend teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Familiarity with OCR tools (e.g., Tesseract, AWS Textract, Google Document AI) for document digitization.
• Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate) for AI-powered search and retrieval.
• Ability to create and maintain Swagger/OpenAPI documentation and Postman collections.
