Back End Developer - Go lang

Faze is looking for a Senior Back end Developer who is deeply hands-on, technically strong, and passionate about building scalable products. This is a senior individual contributor role with a strong emphasis on technical mentorship, system design, and end-to-end ownership.

You will work across backend and frontend, influence architectural decisions, and help elevate the engineering standards across the team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend services in Go (Golang)
• Develop high-quality, performant user interfaces using React or Next.js
• Own features end-to-end from system design and implementation to production deployment
• Actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions (no people management)
• Participate in system design discussions and contribute to long-term architecture decisions
• Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and best engineering practices
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to convert requirements into robust technical solutions
• Debug production issues and drive performance, reliability, and scalability improvements

Must-have skills & experience

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Go (Golang) for backend development
• Strong experience with React or Next.js on the frontend
• Solid understanding of system design, data modelling, and API design
• Experience building and consuming REST and/or gRPC APIs
• Experience mentoring other engineers in a technical capacity
• Good understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, onsite product environment

Interview expectations (explicit)

• Strong fundamentals in system design (scalability, trade-offs, data consistency)
• Ability to reason about backend architecture and API design
• Hands-on coding ability in Go and React/Next.js
• Clear communication of design decisions and trade-offs

Nice-to-have

• Experience with microservices or distributed systems
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Experience with observability, performance tuning, and production debugging
• Prior experience in high-growth startups or product companies
