Business Analyst Wholesale Credit Risk

Role Summary
We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong expertise in wholesale credit risk to drive requirements, design, and delivery across risk transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate understands credit & lending lifecycles, credit risk modeling (PD/LGD/EAD), and regulatory frameworks (Basel III, CRR, PRA, EBA, ECB), and can translate complex risk and regulatory needs into pragmatic business and technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Analysis & Requirements
- Lead discovery, process walkthroughs, requirements elicitation, and stakeholder alignment.
- Write clear BRDs/FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and traceability matrices.
- Conduct as-is/to-be process mapping and gap analysis for credit risk processes.
- Wholesale Credit Risk & Modeling
- Partner with Risk, Finance, Credit, and Model Risk teams on PD/LGD/EAD data needs, governance, and usage.
- Support model lifecycle workflows: development, validation, approval, implementation, monitoring, and backtesting.
- Ensure clear articulation of model purpose, data lineage, and controls in line with policy.
- Regulatory & Policy Alignment
- Interpret requirements under Basel III/CRR, and local supervisor guidance (e.g., PRA/EBA/ECB) for credit risk capital, RWA, default definition, and IRB expectations.
- Translate regulatory texts into actionable controls, processes, reports, and documentation.
- Support regulatory reviews, audits, and remediation programs.
- Systems, Data & Controls
- Work with technology teams on credit risk rating systems, financial spreading tools, data sourcing, and integration.
- Define data quality rules, control points, reconciliation, lineage, and metadata standards.
- Specify and validate credit risk MI/BI and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Change, Delivery & Testing
- Drive backlog grooming, sprint planning, UAT planning/execution, and defect triage.
- Develop test scenarios, data sets, and sign-offs aligned to control & compliance needs.
- Track benefits, adoption, and operational readiness; contribute to playbooks and SOPs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 510 years of BA experience in wholesale credit risk within banking, consulting, or risk technology.
- Strong knowledge of credit & lending lifecycle, counterparty/obligor risk, collateral, limits, and exposure measures.
- Hands-on experience with credit risk rating systems, rating process governance, and financial spreading.
- Working knowledge of PD/LGD/EAD concepts, data structures, drivers, and usage in capital/RWA.
- Solid understanding of Basel III/CRR and supervisory expectations (PRA/EBA/ECB).
- Proficiency in requirements engineering, process design (e.g., BPMN), and data analysis (SQL/Excel).
- Experience producing business/functional specs, data dictionaries, and controls documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder management across Risk, Technology, Finance, and Operations.
Nice-to-Have (Preferred)
- Exposure to Automation / IT delivery (e.g., RPA, workflow tools, low-code/no-code, Python).
- Experience with model risk governance (MRM), SR 11-7 style expectations (or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Moodys/RiskCalc, S&P, SAS, Murex/KyRIBA, Oracle/SQL Server, or BI tools (Power BI/Tableau).
- Knowledge of IFRS 9, stress testing, and ICAAP concepts.
- Prior involvement in regulatory remediation or IRB applications/renewals.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- On-time delivery of agreed requirements, designs, and test sign-offs.
- Reduction in defects and control exceptions; improved data quality metrics.
- Positive stakeholder feedback; measurable adoption of new processes/systems.
- Successful regulatory/audit outcomes (no or minimal findings).
Education & Certifications
- Bachelors/Masters in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related.
- Professional certifications a plus: FRM, PRM, CFA, BA/PM (CBAP, PMIPBA, CSPO).
