Job Description
AWS Quicksight Developer
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with business stakeholders to gather, understand, and document data visualization requirements.
- Design and develop scalable, interactive dashboards and reports using AWS QuickSight with SPICE optimization.
- Optimize performance and manage SPICE capacity through partitioning, scheduling, and incremental refresh strategies.
- Integrate QuickSight with AWS data sources (Redshift, Athena, RDS, S3) and other enterprise systems.
- Create and manage QuickSight assets: datasets, analyses, dashboards, themes, and templates.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and manage access permissions and embedding where applicable.
- Work with AWS CLI or SDK for automation of QuickSight assets.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, refresh failures, or incorrect visualizations.
- Provide user training, demo sessions, and documentation for dashboards and KPIs.
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS QuickSight.
- Proficient in SPICE dataset creation, optimization, and capacity management.
- Strong SQL skills to write and optimize queries across multiple databases (Redshift, Athena, RDS, etc.).
- Experience in creating custom calculated fields, filters, parameters, and controls in QuickSight.
- Use of custom actions, dynamic parameters, and advanced visualizations (maps, pivot tables, KPI tiles).
- Experience in embedding dashboards within internal/external portals or web applications.
- Knowledge of QuickSight APIs/SDK for automation and integration.
- Implementation of row-level security (RLS) and namespace-based multi-tenancy solutions.
- Handling incremental refresh and data ingestion strategies.
- Experience with AWS analytics architecture, including data pipelines, ETL tools (Glue/DBT), and data lakes.
- Understanding of how QuickSight fits into the broader AWS ecosystem (IAM, S3, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, etc.).
- Familiarity with data modeling, semantic layers, and performance optimization techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interface directly with business users, product managers, and analysts.
- Experience translating business KPIs into measurable metrics and impactful visualizations.
- Agile/scrum experience for iterative development and demo cycles.
