Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with strong practical expertise in cloud infrastructure operations and automation. The role is responsible for maintaining and improving cloud platform availability, system performance, and operational efficiency. The position requires close coordination with internal stakeholders such as cloud operations, DevOps, application support, and security teams to ensure that AWS systems are secure, scalable, and optimized for cost and performance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain, support, and operate AWS environments spanning multiple accounts and environments (production, staging, non-prod).
- Provision, configure, and manage infrastructure through Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines, including integrations with source control repositories.
- Administer Amazon EKS clusters, including deployment, scaling, version upgrades, and handling operational issues.
- Build and maintain Docker container images and manage image repositories using ECR.
- Monitor cloud resources using CloudWatch and external monitoring tools; respond to alerts, outages, and performance issues.
- Work with AWS networking components including VPCs, routing, NAT, VPN/Direct Connect, and Transit Gateways.
- Assist with cloud governance tasks such as tagging, budget monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Automate recurring operational activities using scripting (Python, Bash), AWS Lambda, and AWS Systems Manager services.
Required Technical Background
- Deep, hands-on exposure to AWS services including EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, Load Balancers, CloudWatch.
- Experience using Terraform for automated provisioning and Git-based workflows for version control.
- Practical experience running and troubleshooting Kubernetes workloads, ideally on Amazon EKS.
- Familiarity with CI/CD toolsets such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar.
- Strong scripting capability using Python or Bash.
- Knowledge of monitoring, system incident response procedures, and fundamentals of cloud security.
Preferred / Good-To-Have Skills
- AWS Associate-level Certification(s)
- Experience with tools such as Karpenter, Prometheus, or New Relic
- Exposure to cloud cost management, FinOps practices, or optimization tools
