AVP (SME)- Insurance

Job Title: Subject Matter Expert Insurance

Function: Direct Core

Experience: 1220 years overall; minimum 1215 years in Insurance domain

Location: Mumbai

Job Summary: The Insurance SME will provide domain expertise and strategic direction for insurance transformation programs, product implementations, and process optimization initiatives. The role demands deep understanding of insurance products, operations, regulatory frameworks, and digital trends shaping the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Domain Consulting & Delivery

Act as the primary domain authority for life, general, or health insurance verticals.

Support digital transformation, automation, and platform modernization initiatives.

Experience with AI use cases in the Insurance value chain

Partner with business and IT teams to design target operating models, process maps, and solution blueprints.

Review and validate business requirements, user stories, and product backlogs for domain accuracy.

2. Solutioning & Pre-Sales

Provide domain inputs for RFP/RFI responses, proposals, and client presentations.

Support solution architecture and cost modelling from an insurance perspective.

Identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities based on domain gaps.

3. Product & Platform Expertise

Advise on core insurance platforms (eg Life/Asia, Ingenium, Bancs or others).

Define requirements for policy administration, underwriting, claims, billing, and reinsurance systems.

Collaborate with product engineering teams to improve domain coverage and compliance features.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Advisory

Stay abreast of IRDAI regulations, solvency norms, risk-based capital standards, and compliance trends.

Ensure solutions align with Indian & global insurance regulations (GDPR, AML/KYC, IFRS-17).

5. Training & Knowledge Management

Conduct domain training and knowledge transfer sessions for delivery teams.

Create reusable domain assets, frameworks, and process documentation.

Mentor business analysts and junior consultants.

Required Skills & Competencies

Domain Expertise

Strong understanding of insurance value chain product design, underwriting, policy servicing, claims, reinsurance, and distribution.

Experience in one or more lines: Life, Health, General, / Group Insurance.

Familiarity with policy administration systems and digital enablers (APIs, InsurTech, AI/ML use cases).

Functional & Technical Acumen

Hands-on experience in requirements analysis, BRD creation, and process re-engineering.

Knowledge of core system implementations and integrations in BFSI domain.

Comfort working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments.

Soft Skills

Excellent client-facing communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.

Strong analytical thinking and ability to simplify complex business problems. ________________________________________

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters in Business / Finance / Insurance/ Technology.

Certifications: AIII (III India), CII (UK), or equivalent.

Prior experience with insurance carriers, brokers, or global IT consulting firms
