Job Description

The Quantitative Research Associate\Senior Research Associate\Research Analyst is a professional who stays abreast of developments within quantitative finance and contributes to the teamresearch strategy. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. The role has a significant impact on the area through complex deliverables and provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities:

  • The Analyst will be based out of the Mumbai office working alongside other offshore and onshore quant analysts in the team.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of equity quantitative models and databases.
  • Assist in the collection and / or creation of proprietary data sets.
  • Fully understand the content, features, and functionality of Citi’s proprietary research database.
  • Assist in the design, maintenance, and distribution of customized data screens to Citi’s institutional client base, equity sales and trading colleagues.
  • Develop financial models and valuation techniques.
  • Establish yourself as a subject matter expert.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong quantitative background with exceptional analytical detail.
  • A strong understanding of financial analysis and ratio construction is required.
  • Experience within an equity research environment. This may include experience as an analyst or associate in a sector team or at a macro level (e.g. Quant/Strategy).
  • An awareness of financial accounting issues and market operations in various regional markets advantageous.
  • Distill research into an investable thesis and write report/note.

Skills

  • Technical Skills
    • Very strong knowledge of statistical packages such as R (Must Have), SQL(Must Have), Python\Matlab and VBA.
    • Very strong knowledge of relational database structures and ability to write and review stored procedures.
    • Superior Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Knowledge of vendor platforms (Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, Factset, Refinitiv etc.)
    • Passion for numerical analysis, product creation and client servicing.
  • Personal Characteristics/Leadership Skills
    • Good attention to details
    • Self-starter; used to working in a team environment and who has the ambition to progress his/her career within equity research.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (English).
    • Ability to set goals and successfully work to deadlines both individually and in a team setting.
