Job Description

Job Title: AVP Payroll (Outsourcing)

Location: Gurgaon (Gurugram)


Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Delivery

Own end-to-end payroll delivery for multiple Indian and international clients in an outsourcing environment.

Ensure 100% statutory compliance across Indian payroll (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Income Tax, TDS, gratuity, bonus, etc.).

Oversee international payroll taxation basics, coordination with global vendors, and country-specific compliance.

Act as an escalation point for complex payroll issues, audits, and compliance matters.

Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes, accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 50+ payroll professionals across multiple accounts.

Foster a high-accountability, high-quality delivery culture within the payroll operations team.

Manage senior stakeholders including CXOs, CHROs, and CFOs

Lead client governance, SLA reviews, QBRs, and strategic discussions.

Partner with clients on payroll transformation, compliance advisory, and process optimization.

Ensure audit readiness at all times (internal, statutory, and client audits).

Proactively identify payroll, taxation, and compliance risks and implement mitigation plans.

Stay updated on changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and global payroll practices.

Support pre-sales, solutioning, and transitions for new payroll outsourcing engagements.

Collaborate with technology, product, and sales teams to enhance payroll platforms and offerings.

Contribute to growth strategy, margin improvement, and scalability of the payroll outsourcing business


Skills Required

14+ years of overall experience, with significant tenure in payroll outsourcing industry (mandatory).

Strong hands-on experience in Indian payroll processing.

Solid understanding of Indian and international payroll taxation.

Proven experience in managing 1520+ member teams.

Demonstrated success in managing senior and global stakeholders.

Experience handling large, complex client portfolios with strict SLAs.

Deep domain expertise in payroll operations and statutory compliance.

Strong people leadership and coaching capabilities.

Excellent client-facing, communication, and presentation skills.

High attention to detail with a strong risk and control mindset.

Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.

Exposure to payroll technology platforms and automation initiatives.

Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, HR, or related discipline.

Relevant certifications in payroll, taxation, or compliance will be an added advantage.
