Organizational Overview:
This role will be part of the Enterprise Integration Services group of Engineering organization.
PCF AppOps is responsible for the SYF PCF private and public AWS cloud build and support.
K8s ContainerOps team is responsible for SYF container platform and migration support.
Role Summary/Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Cloud and Containers operations lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for bridging the gap between software development and Platform by supporting an environment for efficient development, testing, and deployment of software. The lead will work closely with the platform and application teams to ensure the smooth operation of our systems and services.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leading teams that support operations of PCF and K8s platforms 24x7
Collaborate with platform and application teams to ensure stable environment and reliable operational support
Collaborate with external vendors on latest K8s solutions and PCF updates
Work with Application teams to design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in various environments (on-premises, cloud, hybrid) to support containerized applications
Automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripts and tools for platform administration
Establish and update monitoring and alerting best practices for Kubernetes clusters and PCF applications.
Lead the K8s PoCs to evaluate products and tools that will later become part of SYF standards
Implement and advocate for security best practices for Kubernetes and PCF environments
Optimize cloud environments for performance, scalability, and resource utilization
Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements
Monitor and optimize system performance and capacity
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
Assist with 24x7 Service Desk providing local and remote services at a high level of customer satisfaction with measurable KPIs
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 5+ years of experience in IT, or in lieu of a degree 7+ years of relevant experience in IT.
Minimum 3+ years of cloud experience
Familiarity with cloud platform and services (e.g., AWS, PCF, EKS) - Preferably AWS Certified and the ability to deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters in these environments.
Proficient in leading support team following ITIL standards
Proficient with scripting languages like Python, or Shell
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, including managing pipelines
Desired Characteristics:
Experience with Tanzu K8s platform (TKGI) is a plus
Experience with logging and APM tools like Splunk and New Relic
Java spring boot application development experience is a huge plus
Microservice architecture familiarity
Creativity, enthusiasm, and energy with a strong customer "can do" attitude and result oriented
Experience working on large multi-tiered projects and programs
Hands on, self-motivated professional style with the ability to effectively prioritize multiple initiatives
Acts as an owner with a sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership
Strong leadership, analytic and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Intermediate MS Excel knowledge
Recommended AWS Certifications:
AWS Certified DevOps Administrator – Associate
Certified Kubernetes Administrator
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor's degree with minimum 5+ years of experience in IT, or in lieu of a degree 7+ years of relevant experience in IT.
Work Timings: 2pm to 11pm IST
(This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
