About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Automation Architect who will own, define, and drive the enterprise-wide test automation and quality engineering strategy across large-scale digital transformation programs.

This is a strategic + hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with Delivery Heads, Architects, DevOps, Product Engineering, and Senior Business Stakeholders to build a future-ready, scalable, and high-performing automation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Automation Strategy & Governance

• Define and own the organization-wide automation vision, roadmap, and execution strategy
• Establish automation governance, standards, best practices, and quality gates
• Drive Quality Engineering, Shift-Left, Shift-Right, and Continuous Testing strategy
• Define what to automate, what not to automate, and at what level (UI / API / Integration / Contract / DB)

Architecture & Framework Engineering

• Design and evolve scalable, maintainable, reusable automation frameworks:
• Hybrid / BDD / Data-driven / Keyword-driven
• Build and govern:
• Common libraries
• Reusable components
• Reporting & analytics engines
• Ensure:
• High reliability
• Low flakiness
• High maintainability
• Easy onboarding for new teams

Technology & Tooling Leadership

• Own tool and technology strategy across organization:
• UI: Playwright / Selenium / Cypress
• API: RestAssured / Karate / Postman
• Mobile: Appium
• BDD: Cucumber
• CI/CD: Jenkins / GitLab / Azure DevOps
• Execution: Docker, Selenium Grid, BrowserStack, SauceLabs
• Evaluate open-source vs commercial tools and drive standardization

CI/CD, DevOps & Engineering Integration

• Integrate automation into:
• Build pipelines
• Deployment pipelines
• Release pipelines
• Enable:
• Parallel execution
• Containerized execution
• Cloud-scale test execution
• Implement:
• Quality gates
• Test orchestration
• Real-time quality dashboards

Leadership, Mentoring & Organization Enablement

• Mentor and coach:
• Automation Leads
• SDETs
• QA Engineers
• Build automation capability across the organization
• Act as technical authority and escalation point
• Review frameworks, code quality, and automation maturity across teams

Stakeholder Management & Executive Reporting

• Work closely with:
• Delivery Heads
• Program Managers
• Enterprise Architects
• DevOps Leaders
• Present:
• Automation ROI
• Coverage metrics
• Stability metrics
• Quality trends & risk analysis
• Influence engineering leadership on quality and release confidence

Required Experience & Skills

Experience

• 15+ years in Software Testing / Quality Engineering
• 10+ years in Test Automation
• 5+ years in Automation Architecture / Enterprise Framework Design
• Experience managing multiple programs, large teams, and complex ecosystems

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Java / Python / JavaScript
• Expert in:
• Test automation architecture & design patterns
• UI, API, Mobile, Microservices testing
• CI/CD integration
• Git, Maven/Gradle, Docker
• Cloud execution strategies
• Deep understanding of:
• Test Pyramid
• Shift-left testing
• Contract testing
• Observability & test analytics

Domain (Preferred / Good to Have)

• BFSI / Banking / Financial Services / Insurance
• Large enterprise transformation or product modernization programs
