Job Title: Employment Verification Specialist – Mortgage Operations

Location: Remote

Job Summary:

The Employment Verification Specialist plays a critical role in the mortgage loan process by ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of borrower employment and income information. This position supports risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and smooth loan processing by verifying employment details through direct communication with employers and analysis of supporting documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Employment Verification:
• Contact employers (HR departments or supervisors) to confirm job title, employment status, salary, and tenure.
• Perform verbal, email, or fax-based verification as required.
• Conduct final verbal verification of employment prior to loan closing.
• Compliance & Risk Management:
• Ensure all verification steps comply with federal and state mortgage regulations.
• Flag potential fraud or discrepancies and escalate as needed.
• Reporting & Analytics:
• Generate detailed reports summarizing verification outcomes.

Work Environment:

• Rotational shifts including night and weekend coverage.
• Overtime may be required based on business demand.
• Collaborative team setting with performance-driven culture.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in mortgage processing or employment verification.
• Strong understanding of mortgage documentation and employment verification procedures.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
