Role Summary


This is a high-ownership role for a fresher to join Balio as part of the founding team. Youll work directly with the founders and core team to support underwriting and placement, learn how business risk related decisions get made, and help build the internal playbooks that power a modern brokerage. As a start-up, youll also get the chance to consider opportunities across other departments, based on your strengths, interests, and business needs.


Key Responsibilities (KRAs)


A) Underwriting & Risk Intelligence (Core)

  • Become the risk brain for our partner accounts - break down business risk into insurable exposures and underwriting narratives.
  • Run market benchmarking : how different insurers price, what they exclude, and what good looks like for that risk.
  • Turn messy inputs into sharp outputs : insurer-ready submissions, negotiation angles, and decision-ready comparisons.

B) Placement & Partner Advisory (Frontline)

  • Drive placements end-to-end : Help secure better terms, cleaner wordings, and fewer coverage gaps.
  • Be the person partners trust for speed + clarity - especially when timelines are tight.

C) Insurer Relations Building (Market Relationships)

  • Build deep relationships with insurer underwriting teams
  • Develop a market map: whos best for what risk, where the appetite is shifting, and how to unlock better outcomes.
  • Drive insurer relations via quarterly business reviews and long-term negotiations on incentives, rate positioning, and business volume commitments.

D) Business Growth Enablement (Pipeline Support)

  • Support pipeline creation through research, outreach support, and sharp proposal narratives - help educate unaware to risk-ready.
  • Identify opportunities that are risk-appropriate, not product-pushed.

E) Build With the Founders

  • Work directly with the Founder to build Balios operating system: playbooks, templates, checklists, and quality benchmarks.
  • Take up high-impact mini-projects across ops/sales/risk- start-up-style : based on your strengths and curiosity.


Success Metrics (KPIs)
  • Underwriting & risk insight quality : sharp risk/claims analysis, strong market benchmarking, and clear decision points in recommendations
  • Placement effectiveness : improved terms/wordings, identify coverage gaps, timely quote conversion and renewal outcomes
  • Insurer partnership performance : quarterly business reviews completed, monthly placement targets met, progress on long-term rate/incentive + volume negotiations
  • Partner experience : clarity and responsiveness in partner-facing communication; predictable updates and minimal back-and-forth
  • Execution & ownership: speed + follow-up discipline, high reliability, and measurable process improvements/playbooks built with the founding team


Educational Qualification
  • Minimum Requirement : Graduate degree (any stream) with strong written communication and comfort with structured work.
  • Strongly Preferred (High-fit backgrounds) :Law (LLB) strong interpretation skills for contracts/policy wordings
  • Management (BBA/MBA/PGDM) structured thinking, execution, and commercial context
  • Commerce/Finance (B.Com/M.Com/CA Inter-level exposure) analytical discipline, numbers comfort
  • Engineering / STEM high problem-solving orientation and process discipline
  • Proven Academic / Analytical Strength (What we look for) :Evidence of high-order analytical ability: strong academics, competitive exams, rigorous projects, research/case competitions, or demonstrable problem-solving work.
  • Comfort with structured tools: spreadsheets, trackers, clear writing, and logical summarization.
