Job Description:
As a Design Engineer within Retail Electric Power Solutions (REPS) team of Caterpillar, you will be responsible for design and development of diesel, gas generator systems and sub-systems. You will be integral part of electromechanical design team which work on concepting, designing and development of control panel, breaker panel, exhaust lines, air intake & fuel systems. This role requires to perform job duties covering electrical and mechanical design. This position directly impacts Caterpillar’s current and future generator products developed for various markets.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and development of air intake, exhaust, fuel systems, control panel and circuit breaker panels for diesel and gas generator products
- Perform design calculations, structural analysis and electrical / mechanical components selection
- Work with other Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers to understand design and drawing requirements.
- Create new CAD models and drawings for systems, sub-systems, assemblies, and components using Creo.
- Understand and apply good drawing practice, including geometric tolerancing.
- Use knowledge of various manufacturing processes to deliver the solution that meets DFA & DFM
- Provide technical support to quality & purchasing during part development
- Work with business unit, SMEs, Project leads, electrical and mechanical engineers for delivering projects on time.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical / Mechatronics / Automobile Engineering
- Experience with design and development of electromechanical components
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Creo) and PLM software (Teamcenter)
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams and with suppliers
Desired Qualification:
- Communicate technical information effectively with all stakeholders
This position requires working onsite five days a week.
