About the Team and the Role

The Costing & Budgeting team at Ather is responsible for driving financial precision and cost leadership across our hardware portfolio, ensuring our intelligent vehicles are built with optimized margins.

This role is for a Manager - Electrical & Electronics Costing who will lead the financial engineering for our most critical tech components. You will be responsible for preparing zero-based costing for complex electronics, conducting competitor teardowns, and providing the "design to cost" insights that enable our engineering and sourcing teams to deliver high-performance products at the right price point.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed zero-based costing for Bare PCBs, Cable harnesses, PCBAs, and full Box builds.

• Apply deep technical knowledge of electronics commodities, including active and passive components, to evaluate product costs.

• Analyze SMT, THT, and Cable harness manufacturing processes and inspection methods at EMS providers to determine fair should-cost.

• Perform competitor teardowns and directional costing to benchmark Ather products against the industry.

• Partner with Design Engineering to implement a "Design to Cost" approach and support Sourcing with technical data for supplier negotiations.

• Evaluate supplier price increase requests by analyzing Raw Material (RM) and Forex indexing.

• Maintain comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) and cost models, updating them for RM fluctuations and supply chain dynamics.

• Manage a holistic financial view of projects, including prototype costs, budgets, and obsolescence costs.

Experience and Qualifications

• BE in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.

• 8-10 years of experience in should-costing and product development.

Must Have Competencies

• Execute zero-based and should-costing for Bare PCBs, PCBAs, cable harnesses, and box-build assemblies.

• Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge of electronics commodities, including MOSFETs, microcontrollers, and power management components.

• Analyze complex manufacturing processes such as SMT and THT at EMS facilities to optimize production costs.

• Evaluate and manage Raw Material (RM) and Forex indexing to validate supplier price adjustment requests.

Good to have Competencies

• Apply costing and process knowledge to secondary mechanical processes like plastic injection molding, casting, and sheet metal.

• Leverage hands-on shop floor or EMS experience to identify manufacturing efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.

• Conduct competitor product teardowns to perform directional costing and benchmarking.

• Maintain and expand technical databases for diverse electrical and electronics commodities to improve costing accuracy.
