Role Overview

We are seeking a high-calibreAssociate to join our core investment team in Mumbai. This role is designed for professionals withprior PE/VC experience , preferably indeep-tech, aerospace, defence, or industrial technologies , who are ready to take ownership across the investment lifecycle.

The Associate will work closely with the IL and is also expected to function independently ondeal sourcing, diligence, investment execution, and portfolio support , while contributing to ecosystem development and cross-border initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Deal Execution

• Lead and support end-to-end deal execution, including opportunity evaluation, commercial and technical diligence, financial analysis, and investment memos
• Build and maintain sector thesis across aerospace, defence, dual-use, and advanced industrial technologies
• Evaluate startup business models, unit economics, scalability, and competitive positioning
• Support transaction structuring, valuation analysis, and coordination with legal, financial, and technical advisors

Sourcing & Ecosystem Engagement

• Proactively source and evaluate investment opportunities across India and global A&D ecosystems
• Build deep relationships with founders, co-investors, strategic partners, corporates, and government stakeholders
• Represent IBV at industry events, demo days, conferences, and ecosystem forums

Portfolio Support & Value Creation

• Work with portfolio companies on strategic initiatives including market entry, partnerships, fundraising, and go-to-market strategy
• Support cross-border expansion and international customer / partner access
• Track portfolio performance, KPIs, and follow-on opportunities

Research, Strategy & Thought Leadership

• Track sector developments, policy changes, defence procurement trends, and global A&D dynamics
• Contribute to whitepapers, internal strategy notes, LP materials, and thematic research
• Support program management and execution of IBV-led initiatives, accelerators, or ecosystem programs

• 36+ years of experience inPE/VC, growth equity, venture capital, or strategic investing , with meaningful exposure toAerospace & Defence, dual-use tech, robotics, advanced manufacturing, space.
• High ownership mindset, attention to detail, and ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
• Strong understanding ofventure investing fundamentals, including diligence, valuation, and portfolio management
• Ability to independently assess startups and investment opportunities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including investor-grade memo and presentation writing
• Conducted detailed financial modelling, valuation, and analysis of companies, industries, and potential transactions
• Created discounted cash flow (DCF) models, comparable company analysis (CCA), and precedent transaction analysis.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
• Experience working withfounders, technical teams, and senior stakeholders.
• Comfort using productivity and automation tools (Notion, Google Workspace, CRM tools)
• Experience using LinkedIn and other platforms for deal sourcing and ecosystem mapping
