About the Role
The AVP BHR will be a key member of the HR function, responsible for driving operational excellence and governance across core HR processes. The role will oversee end-to-end HR operations including payroll management, compensation and benefits administration, statutory and regulatory compliance, employee lifecycle management, and the digital transformation of HR systems. The position will play a critical role in strengthening audit readiness, managing HR risks, supporting internal and statutory audits, and ensuring minimal audit observations related to HR operations and compliance. Additionally, the role will oversee vendor management, service delivery SLAs, and continuous process improvements to support business growth and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management
- Lead end-to-end HR operations including onboarding, employee data management, confirmations, transfers, exits, and documentation.
- Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks across locations and business units.
- Drive operational efficiency through process re-engineering and shared services models.
- Ensure seamless coordination with recruitment, IT, admin, finance, and business teams for timely onboarding and exit formalities.
- Manage employee queries, grievance redressal and HR service delivery SLAs.
- Manage end-to-end vendor invoice processing for HR operations, payroll, benefits, HRMS, recruitment, insurance and consulting partners.
- Drive policy awareness and compliance through employee communication and HR helpdesks.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance
- Own end-to-end payroll processing for on-roll, contractual, consultants, and senior leadership.
- Ensure timely, accurate payroll closure with zero-defect delivery.
- Manage statutory compliance including PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, Gratuity, Bonus, and state-wise labor laws.
- Partner with Finance for payroll accounting, provisioning, audits, and reconciliations.
- Lead internal and external audits (statutory, SOX, internal control audits).
Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Governance
- Design, implement, and administer compensation structures, incentive plans, and variable pay programs aligned with business performance.
- Manage annual increment, promotion, and variable pay cycles with high accuracy.
- Govern benefits programs including health insurance, life cover, gratuity, superannuation, and flexible benefits.
- Conduct benchmarking and market studies to ensure competitive and cost-effective compensation practices.
- Ensure pay parity, compliance, and transparency across roles and levels.
- Act as SPOC for insurance brokers and insurers for renewals, claims, and escalations.
HRMS & Digital Transformation
- Lead HRMS implementation, upgrades, and integration across payroll, C&B, attendance, leave, performance, and employee self-service.
- Drive automation, workflow digitization, and paperless HR operations.
- Ensure data accuracy, system controls, access management, and information security.
- Leverage HR analytics and dashboards for workforce insights, cost optimization, and decision-making.
- Act as the business owner for HR technology vendors and system partners.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Design and execute a Group Employee Engagement Calendar integrating all business units
- Conduct annual and quarterly pulse surveys; convert insights into targeted action plans.
- Implement employee recognition frameworks (monthly, quarterly, annual awards) linked to values and performance.
- Strengthen leadership visibility through open forums, townhalls, and leader connect series.
Reporting, MIS & Governance
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive HR MIS covering headcount, attrition, hiring, payroll cost, compensation structure, benefits utilization, statutory compliances, and vendor spend.
- Prepare periodic dashboards and analytics for senior leadership, CXOs, Audit Committee, and Board-level reviews with accurate and actionable insights.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reconciliation between HRMS, payroll systems, finance records, and statutory filings.
- Establish standardized reporting templates, definitions, and data governance frameworks to enable reliable decision-making.
- Track key HR operational KPIs including payroll accuracy, compliance timelines, service delivery SLAs, and cost metrics.
- Act as the primary SPOC for internal, statutory, and external audits related to HR operations, payroll, C&B, and labor law compliance.
- Ensure timely availability of audit documentation including employee records, payroll registers, statutory challans, returns, policy approvals, contracts, and vendor invoices.
- Coordinate with Finance, Legal, Compliance, and IT teams to address audit requirements and clarifications.
