Position Summary

The School of Distance Education is seeking a tech-savvy and student-centric Assistant Professor of Statistics . The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality statistical education through digital platforms, developing Self-Learning Materials (SLM), and bridging the gap between mathematical theory and data-driven industry applications (e.g., Data Science, Business Analytics).

MIT ADT University is looking for a seasoned Academician and Researcher to join the School of Distance Education as an Assistant Professor of Statistics . This role is designed for a candidate who possesses a deep command of quantitative methods and has a proven track record of teaching excellence. You will be responsible for leading the statistical curriculum, mentoring distance learners, and driving research initiatives within the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Academic Leadership: Lead the development of high-quality Self-Learning Material (SLM) and digital repositories for Statistics, ensuring alignment with both UGC-DEB norms and industry requirements.
• Advanced Instruction: Deliver expert-level virtual lectures on subjects including Bayesian Inference, Multivariate Analysis, Stochastic Processes, and Biostatistics.
• Research & Publication: Maintain an active research agenda. You are expected to mentor junior faculty and students in research methodology and publish regularly in Scopus/Web of Science indexed journals.
• Distance Pedagogy: Optimize the Learning Management System (LMS) experience by integrating interactive statistical simulations and data visualization tools.
• Institutional Building: Participate in Board of Studies (BoS) meetings to refine the syllabus and contribute to the universitys accreditation (NAAC/NIRF) documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Ph.D. in Statistics / Applied Statistics is mandatory (as per UGC Regulations).
• Core Qualification: Masters degree with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
• Teaching Experience: Minimum 23 years of experience specifically at the rank of Assistant Professor in a reputed University or College.
• Research Track Record: Proven record of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, SPSS, or MATLAB).

Core Competencies

• Experience in ODL: A strong understanding of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) methodologies and the ability to engage students in a non-traditional classroom setting.
• Analytical Depth: Ability to bridge theoretical statistics with modern Data Science applications.
• Communication: Exceptional command of English for both high-level academic writing and clear verbal delivery in video modules.
