Position Title: Assistant Professor in  Management/Human Resource Management (level B)

Reports To: Professor / Rector

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Position Summary

The Assistant Professor at UNSW Bengaluru is an academic role focused on coordinating and

delivering high-quality undergraduate teaching. The position contributes to UNSW Bengaluru’s

teaching, research and service activities in human resources management (HRM),

organisational behaviour and leadership (OBL), and related management disciplines, with an

emphasis on developing applied, discipline-specific knowledge, expertise and skills for future

professionals.

 

The role involves the design, development and delivery of undergraduate courses such as

Foundations of Management, HRM, OBL, Managing People Across Cultures, Business Law,

Economics, International Business, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Assistant

Professor works collaboratively with teaching teams, professional staff and academic

leadership to ensure effective curriculum implementation, assessment integrity, student

engagement, and compliance with UNSW academic standards and University Grants

Commission (UGC) requirements.

 

The position includes engagement in scholarly activity and the development of research

linkages within the UNSW academic community and broader scholarly networks (e.g. AOM, AIB,

AFAANZ, INDAM). Teaching quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and

supervising applied research projects for the business capstone course form part of the role.

The Assistant Professor also contributes to teaching and research activities that address

emerging organisational challenges, including the impact of disruptive technologies such as

artificial intelligence and blockchain on the future of work, while supporting a consistent, high

quality student experience and strengthening UNSW Bengaluru’s academic reputation.

 

Accountabilities

• Coordinate course delivery across teaching teams, ensuring consistency and quality in content

and pedagogy.

• Develop and maintain course materials, assessments, and learning activities aligned with

approved learning outcomes.

• Ensure course content meets UNSW curriculum standards and UGC requirements through

regular reviews and updates.

• Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and address academic challenges to

support student success.

• Manage course administration, including timetabling, grading, and moderation of

assessments.

• Uphold academic integrity and compliance with assessment policies, including plagiarism

detection and fair assessment practices.

• Liaise with professional staff to coordinate course logistics and enhance the student

experience.

• Contribute to program-level improvements through curriculum review and feedback based on

course outcomes.

• Engage in scholarly activity relevant to the discipline and teaching practice to inform innovation

in learning and assessment.

• Participate in academic governance, including committees, quality assurance processes, and

reporting requirements.

• Promote inclusive teaching practices and equity, ensuring diverse student needs are met.

• Represent the course in academic forums and act on feedback from students and faculty to

improve delivery.

• Ensure safe and compliant practices in all course-related activities, adhering to UNSW and

local health and safety guidelines.

 

Skill & Experience

• A PhD in HRM/OBL or related areas

• Relevant teaching experience in the abovementioned subject areas of HRM and OBL.

• Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and

developments.

• Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at

undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

• Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery

methods.

• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant

discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales).

• Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning

(desirable). 

• Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support

student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

• Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact

with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as

well as the capacity for research leadership.

• A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or local industry.

• High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a

diverse range of students and staff.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective

relationships.

• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills. 

• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action,

together with relevant policies and guidelines.

• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant

health and safety training in line with UNSW’s requirements and local regulatory bodies.
