Position Summary:

The University of Liverpool, India, Bengaluru seeks a qualified Lecturer in Game Design with sufficiently wide expertise to cover technical aspects (programming, game engines) as well as the visual, spatial, and sonic aspects of the discipline (Game Art, UX/UI, composition of music for games, sound recording). The role is full-time and includes teaching, administration and scholarship.

Assistant Professor in Game Design

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching across undergraduate and future postgraduate Game Design programmes at the University of Liverpool’s India Campus. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and with industry, contributing to the University's research vision.

Key responsibilities and duties:

Teaching and Administrative

To contribute to the design, development, delivery, assessment, and administration of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered.
To participate actively in the development and delivery of the School’s strategic and operational objectives.
To undertake academic and administrative duties as assigned by your academic line manager.
To contribute to ongoing curriculum enhancement, ensuring alignment with international academic standards, research advancements, and evolving industry needs.
To engage with innovative, inclusive, and modern pedagogical approaches, implementing best practices in university teaching and learning.
To supervise and support students directly, identifying learning needs, defining learning objectives, and maintaining a high standard of academic guidance and mentorship.
To provide academic supervision for undergraduate dissertations.
Lecturing, seminar teaching, workshop delivery and assessment relevant to Game Design in technical, artistic and creative contexts

Research

Develop collaborative research links with our academic staff in our home campus in Liverpool.

To prepare and submit manuscripts for publications in leading international conferences and journals.

Develop engagement with external partners.

Take responsibility for the supervision and training of postgraduate research students

Key responsibilities and duties:

Lecturing, seminar teaching, workshop delivery and assessment relevant to Game Design in technical, artistic and creative contexts

Undertaking relevant scholarship duties in Game Design
