Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Gurugram for an Assistant Merchandiser. The role involves assisting in product development and merchandising processes, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting end-to-end sourcing activities. Key responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers, managing communication between vendors and clients, coordinating sample development and approvals, and assisting in preparing product presentations and reports. The Assistant Merchandiser will ensure timely order placements, follow-ups, and adherence to quality and delivery schedules.

Role Overview

The Assistant Merchandiser will support the merchandising team in managing product development, sampling, order execution, vendor coordination, and compliance processes. The role requires strong follow-up skills, attention to detail, commercial understanding, and the ability to work in a fast-paced export environment.

This position offers high exposure to international clients and factory interactions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development & Sampling

Coordinate with suppliers for new product development and sampling.

Follow up on proto samples, development samples, and PP samples.

Maintain sample trackers and development timelines.

Ensure alignment with client design briefs and specifications.

2. Vendor Coordination

Daily follow-ups with factories for production updates.

Track raw material availability and production planning.

Support vendor compliance documentation.

3. Order Execution

Assist in PO confirmation and order entry.

Monitor production status and highlight risks proactively.

Support inspection scheduling and shipment coordination.

Maintain T&A (Time & Action) calendars.

4. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare costing sheets and product summaries.

Maintain order trackers, WIP reports, and sample logs.

Assist in data management through ERP / cloud-based systems.

Support client communication under guidance of senior merchandiser.

5. Quality & Compliance Support

Coordinate with QC teams for inline and final inspections.

Ensure packaging, labeling, and shipping compliance.

Maintain proper documentation for audits.

Desired Profile

Graduate / Diploma in Fashion Merchandising / Textile / Home Furnishing / Export Management.

13 years of experience in buying house / export house (Home Dcor preferred).

Strong Excel and reporting skills.

Good written & spoken English.

Strong follow-up ability and vendor handling skills.

Detail-oriented and process-driven mindset.

Preferred Exposure

Categories: Metal dcor, Wood, Textiles, Furniture, Lighting, Handcrafted products.

Experience handling U.S, UK and EU clients.
