Job Title: Assistant Manager- Student Life ( Wellness Program )
Job Location: Visakhapatnam
Role Summary: The Directorate of Student Life at GITAM (Deemed to be University) is dedicated to the holistic support and development of students while supporting the career-focused mission of the University. The Assistant Manager - Student Life (Wellness Program) is responsible for providing confidential, professional counseling support to students, managing psychological risk cases, and building a campus that promotes mental health awareness and reduces stigma. The position combines direct therapeutic intervention with preventive outreach and mental health education for students, staff and faculty.
Education & Experience
Masters degree in Psychology/ Clinical Psychology / Counselling Psychology (mandatory)
3-5 years of work experience in Counselling and mental health roles (preferably in a youth-focused setting).
Criteria for experience can be relaxed if the quality of experience is good and organization where experience is gained is relevant.
Strong understanding of crisis intervention and ethical counselling practices.
Fluency in English is mandatory (additional regional language proficiency is an advantage).
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide confidential one-on-one counselling to students experiencing emotional, academic, relational, or any other psychological concerns.
Provide support to students or staff for short term personal counselling.
Conduct psychological assessments and identify risk levels
Handle red-flag and crisis cases in coordination with parents (when appropriate), faculty and other mental health professionals.
Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation in line with professional ethical standards.
Be accessible and responsive to urgent student support needs.
Design and conduct campus-wide mental health awareness and emotional wellness campaigns.
Manage the implementation of student orientation/induction programs within the campus with the aim to familiarize new students with the wellness initiative and enable students, faculty and staff to understand the importance of mental health.
Manage the implementation of student counselling guidelines and development programs to help students in their overall experience.
Manage the Directorate of Student Lifes ongoing relationship with external mental health service provider.
Help conduct sensitization programs for faculty, academic mentors, residence management team and other staff to help them identify early warning signs.
Provide periodic reports on trends and preventive strategies.
