Job Profile: QA/QC Engineer / Manager – EPC Projects

Role Purpose

To ensure that all engineering, procurement, and construction activities are carried out in compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and quality management systems, thereby ensuring delivery of defect-free facilities to the client.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance (QA)

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and QA procedures.

• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 / ISO 45001 and client-specific quality requirements.

• Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits to verify adherence to contractual and quality requirements.

• Ensure material approvals, vendor document reviews, and design compliance.

• Train project team members and site staff on QA/QC requirements.

Quality Control (QC)

• Inspect and monitor construction works (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) as per approved drawings and ITPs.

• Conduct material inspection at site (receipt, storage, and traceability).

• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), hydrostatic tests, NDT (RT, UT, PT, MT), and other inspection activities.

• Maintain calibration records of testing equipment and instruments.

• Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), track corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and close them.

• Verify welding, painting, coating, and civil concrete works per approved procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain QA/QC records: ITPs, checklists, test reports, calibration certificates, material traceability documents.

• Maintain Quality Dossiers / As-Built Quality Records for final handover.

• Coordinate with client/consultant representatives for inspections and approvals.

• Generate weekly/monthly quality reports for management review.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of EPC project lifecycle (design, procurement, construction, commissioning).

• Familiarity with international codes & standards: ASME, ASTM, ACI, AWS, API, BS, IS codes.

• Proficiency in NDT methods and QA/QC software/tools.

• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation).

• Certification preferred: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CSWIP 3.1, AWS-CWI, NACE, BGAS, ASNT Level II/III.

• 3–15+ years of relevant experience in QA/QC within EPC projects (oil & gas, power, infrastructure, heavy industries).
