Purpose of Role: The Assistant Manager – SHE will be instrumental in advancing Weir's health, safety, and environmental initiatives. This role involves overseeing the development, execution, and management of comprehensive SHE programs. The individual will champion a safe working environment by proactively identifying and mitigating workplace hazards, ensuring adherence to legal standards, and fostering a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization.

Additionally, the Assistant Manager will drive the promotion of sustainability practices, continuously assess risks, and spearhead efforts for ongoing improvement in safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce SHE policies, procedures, and programs in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure effective communication across all departments.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and implement corrective actions promptly.

  • Investigate workplace accidents/incidents, determine root causes, and recommend preventive measures. Maintain incident records.

  • Organize and conduct SHE training programs on safety practices, emergency response, and environmental compliance. Ensure employee adherence to SHE guidelines.

  • Stay updated on regulations regarding workplace safety, health standards, and environmental laws. Ensure company compliance.

  • Identify and assess workplace hazards, environmental risks, and health issues. Develop strategies to mitigate risks.

  • Prepare, review, and implement emergency response plans. Conduct regular drills and ensure employee familiarity with procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, reports, and incident investigations. Prepare monthly SHE performance reports for senior management.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of SHE initiatives, collect feedback, and recommend improvements to enhance the safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • HSE certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) highly desirable

  • 3-5 years in SHE roles, preferably in manufacturing.

  • Experience in risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.

  • Familiarity with safety equipment, emergency response protocols, and environmental impact assessments.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven.

  • Strong leadership abilities to influence and motivate others.
