Role Overview:
The Higher Education Counselling Services (HECS) team plays a critical role in supporting FLAME University students in identifying, planning, and progressing toward suitable postgraduate education and career pathways globally.
The Assistant Manager Global Career Counsellor will be responsible for first-level student counselling, strategic profile development, data-driven guidance, and supporting programs such as events, workshops, and system-based tracking. The role requires a balanced approach between student-facing counselling, administrative coordination, and data analysis to ensure structured, current, and globally aligned guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Counselling:
- Conduct first-level counselling sessions with students to understand their academic interests and career aspirations
- Help students align their interests with appropriate career and postgraduate study options
- Focus on interest mapping, profile building, and masters degree analysis
- Provide structured guidance to support informed decision-making
Administrative and Program Support:
- Conceptualize and support events, workshops, and engagement initiatives for students
- Coordinate end-to-end event management including logistics, registrations, and feedback
- Maintain records of daily student counselling sessions
- Prepare for student meetings, including scheduling and sending reminders
- Track and map student journeys using systematic and methodological tools
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect, collate, clean, and analyze student data related to career and higher education interests
- Maintain records of preferred subjects, destinations, and universities chosen by students
- Research global trends in higher education and industries to inform counselling practices
- Provide resources and guidance for exploring career options linked to liberal arts education
- Stay updated on industry trends to ensure accurate and relevant advice
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field is required; a masters degree in counselling, education, or a related discipline is preferred
- Strong understanding of liberal arts and humanities education and associated career pathways
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse student groups
- Knowledge of career development theories and counselling methodologies
- Familiarity with multiple industries and the ability to connect liberal education with real-world careers
- Proficiency in using career assessment tools and online research resources
- High levels of empathy, patience, and ability to offer personalized guidance
