Assistant Manager - Direct Tax

Eligibility: CA with 36 years of direct tax experience (manufacturing preferred).

Designation: Assistant Manager - Direct Tax

We are looking for a Direct Taxation professional with 36 years of experience in the manufacturing sector to manage end-to-end direct tax compliances, assessments, and litigation support. The role will involve close coordination with plant finance, operations, and external consultants, along with exposure to tax automation and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle direct tax compliances including computation of income, preparation, review, and filing of income tax returns for companies, firms, and individuals
• Manage tax assessments, reassessments, and rectification proceedings before tax authorities
• Monitor and ensure timely response to notices, scrutiny cases, and departmental communications
• Support tax planning and advisory matters with respect to corporate and non-corporate taxation
• Work on tax automation initiatives, including use of ERP systems, compliance tools, and process digitization
• Manage tax provisions, deferred tax computations, and support closing activities in coordination with finance teams
• Analyze amendments in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization/clients
• Support internal audits, statutory audits, and transfer of tax data to relevant stakeholders
• Maintain proper documentation and MIS related to direct tax matters

Required Skills & Qualifications

• CA
• 36 years of relevant experience in direct taxation (industry or professional firm)
• Strong knowledge of Income Tax Act, rules, and procedures
• Hands-on experience in assessments, appeals, and departmental interactions
• Working knowledge of tax compliance and automation tools (IT portals, ERP systems, Excel, tax software)
• Good drafting, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines
