Job Title :Assistant Manager Business Unit Finance (Sales & G&A)
Work Location: Bangalore (Hybrid)
Reporting To: Sr. Director FP&A
Function: Finance | Business Partnering | Sales Finance| G&A
Role Summary
The Assistant Manager BU Finance will act as the primary finance partner and budget controller for Sales & G&A cost centers.
This role is responsible for end-to-end oversight of Sales & G&A -related costs, including commissions, incentives, and contractual sales spend, while ensuring strong governance, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives.
The role requires close collaboration with leadership, FP&A, Accounting, and Legal, combining financial rigor with practical business understanding.
The role is based out of Bangalore and will help drive global finance practices and will part of FP&A function.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & G&A Cost & Budget Control
- Own and manage Sales & G&A cost center budgets, including forecasting, tracking, variance analysis, and cost optimization.
- Act as the budget controller for spend, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and financial policies.
- Partner with FP&A on periodic forecasts, outlooks, and management reporting related to sales costs.
- Track headcount, open requisitions, backfills, PRs, and POs, ensuring committed costs are accurately reflected in forecasts.
Sales Commissions & Incentives
- Lead end-to-end sales commission calculations, validations, and payouts in line with approved incentive plans.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and transparency in commission computations across sales teams.
- Support the design, review, and operationalization of commission structures in partnership with Sales leadership and FP&A.
Sales Contracts & Letters
- Review and support sales letters, incentive plans, and related commercial documents from a financial and governance standpoint.
- Work closely with Legal and Sales teams to ensure financial terms are compliant, clearly articulated, and executable.
Accounting & Financial Close Support
- Coordinate with Accounting teams to manage:
- Accruals and reversals related to expenses
- Prepaid expenses and cost deferrals
- Month-end and quarter-end close activities
- Ensure costs are recorded accurately and in the correct accounting periods.
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted finance advisor to ESM leaders, providing insights on cost trends, incentive effectiveness, and financial impact.
- Report numbers periodically to the stakeholders to provide visibility of spend vs plan/forecast
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Support audits, internal reviews, and compliance requirements related to sales spend.
Systems & Data
- Leverage CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and related systems to support reporting, and analysis.
- Partner with system teams on enhancements, controls, and data integrity related to sales finance processes.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Experience
- 5 to10 years of relevant experience in Budget Control, Sales Finance, or Business Finance roles.
- Proven hands-on experience in sales commissions, and incentive calculations.
- Strong exposure to working withLeadership, Accounting and Legal teams
- Experience managing budgets, and forecasts in a structured corporate environment.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong accounting fundamentals, with practical experience in accruals, prepaids, and cost management.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce or similar) is a strong plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with financial planning & reporting tools is desirable.
Behavioral & Leadership Skills
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger financial picture.
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with senior stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- CA, ICWA, MBA Finance, CA/CWA Inter, M.com, B.com with other related professional qualifications
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience with significant focus in multi-national, global companies
- Previous work experience in External reporting and/or Financial Planning and Analysis role within the IT Services/Software industry is an advantage
- Impeccable communication skills (verbal & written) is a must
- Excellent time management, organizational and follow up skills and ability to multitask
- Attention to detail and strong follow-through
- Someone who enjoys being close to the business while maintaining financial discipline.
