Responsibilities:

Conduct applied research in machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and related areas relevant to industrial automation
Prototype, test, and evaluate novel AI algorithms rapidly, ensuring feasibility for real-world deployment
Publish and present research results in leading conferences and journals while contributing to Festos internal knowledge base
Collaborate closely with engineering, embedded AI, and software teams to transfer research into practical, scalable applications
Work with global and academic partners to advance research collaborations and maintain research excellence
Benchmark and validate AI models through experiments, simulations, and real-world datasets, ensuring robustness and performance
Contribute to fast-turnaround prototypes that demonstrate business value and support short time-to-market cycles

Qualifications:

Masters or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
Proven experience conducting applied research, ideally supported by peer-reviewed publications
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
Experience translating theoretical research into practical, scalable solutions or prototypes
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
