About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Software Architect / Senior Engineering Manager to join our Consumer Lending Technology team. This role is crucial in designing and delivering next-generation financial technology products that serve millions of customers and power marquee partnerships such as Apple and Pagaya .

As an Architect, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to conceptualize, design, and implement scalable, secure, and customer-centric financial solutions. You will play a strategic role in shaping technology direction, mentoring teams, and ensuring engineering excellence in a U.S. regulated financial environment .

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Define and implement scalable, cloud-native architectures supporting consumer lending products, including Unsecured Loans, Credit Cards, HELOC, Auto Loans, and CPAY .
• Design and develop microservices , APIs , and event-driven systems leveraging modern backend frameworks (Node.js, Python, Go, Java).
• Ensure architecture aligns with enterprise standards , security requirements , and regulatory compliance .
• Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) and MVPs for new product innovations.
• Partner with UX and product teams to ensure technical designs enable a seamless and intuitive user experience across mobile and web platforms.

Technical Leadership

• Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle from conceptualization and design to implementation and deployment.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to development teams, fostering an engineering culture focused on quality, performance, and innovation .
• Participate in code reviews , architecture boards , and technical deep dives .
• Champion best practices in software design, security, observability, and automation .

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

• Drive adoption of AI/ML , blockchain , and event-driven architectures for intelligent and adaptive financial products.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks for integration into the FinTech ecosystem.
• Contribute to design thinking workshops and shape product strategy through technology insights.

Quality, Performance & Security

• Ensure solutions are secure , compliant , and highly available in production environments.
• Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to maintain high standards of code quality , test coverage , and automated CI/CD .
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning to meet scalability demands.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner with Product Managers , Designers , and Business Stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of large-scale digital initiatives.
• Work within an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and release management.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software development and architecture roles.
• Proven expertise in FinTech, Lending, Payments, or BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience in:
• Backend: Node.js, Python, Go, Java (Spring Boot / Microservices)
• Frontend: React, React Native
• Cloud: AWS (preferred), GCP including cloud-native architecture, scalability, and resilience design.
• Deep understanding of API design , microservices patterns , data modeling , and event-driven systems .
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
• Proficiency in unit, integration, and automated testing frameworks .
• Strong foundation in security , compliance , and regulatory frameworks applicable to U.S. financial systems (e.g., PCI, SOC2, GDPR, OCC, CFPB).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in FinTech startups or U.S. regulated financial institutions .
• Exposure to AI/ML , blockchain , or embedded finance technologies .
• Experience in API-first , cloud-native , and micro-frontend architectures.
• Deep knowledge of UX principles , customer-centric product design , and digital lending workflows .
• Proven track record of launching and scaling customer-facing digital products .
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science , Information Technology , or a related field.
