Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Architect to lead performance optimization and database design improvements for a high-volume, customer-facing application. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, database performance tuning, and schema redesign. This role will involve conducting a comprehensive database audit, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing scalable solutions that improve application responsiveness and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Database Performance Audit & Optimization

• Analyse existing database queries, stored procedures, and indexes to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Redesign slow or inefficient queries to improve speed and reduce load.
• Recommend and implement indexing strategies, caching solutions, and partitioning as appropriate.

Architecture & Design Improvements

• Review and refactor database schema for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Establish database design best practices and guidelines for the development team.
• Support migration of legacy components to optimized structures where needed.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Work closely with application developers to ensure efficient database interaction in the code.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to improve database deployment and monitoring.
• Provide mentorship and training to development teams on database performance best practices.

Monitoring & Maintenance

• Set up proactive monitoring to detect performance degradation early.
• Implement automated alerts and performance dashboards.
• Ensure database security, backups, and disaster recovery measures are in place.
