Application Support Engineer – AS400/COBOL/DB2

Role:

• We are hiring an Application Support Engineer to support enterprise applications running on AS400 (IBM i), COBOL, and DB2.
• In this role, you will help ensure that critical business systems run reliably by monitoring applications, troubleshooting incidents, and analysing data issues. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and business teams to resolve issues and maintain system stability.
• This position is well suited for engineers who enjoy problem solving, investigating production issues, and working with large enterprise systems.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and support production applications and nightly batch processes.
• Investigate and resolve application incidents using system logs and DB2 queries.
• Troubleshoot issues in AS400 environments and COBOL applications.
• Analyse recurring incidents and help improve system reliability.
• Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and operations teams during incident resolution.
• Document incidents, root causes, and resolutions clearly.
• Use monitoring tools to track application performance and system health.

Required Skills:

• Experience supporting applications in a production or operations environment.
• Working knowledge of AS400 (IBM i) systems.
• Experience working with COBOL-based applications.
• Ability to query and analyse data using DB2 SQL.
