Application Engineer II (.NET Core, C#)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Application Engineer with full stack development skills, combine design thinking techniques, software development, business domain knowhow and apply agile architecture principles to build high-quality applications. You are an experienced Engineer who has passion for application development, loves to analyze and tackle various technical challenges on the way. You will work with the business product owner, architecture and engineering teams to translate a business need into a robust and integrated technology solution to meet the Product vision and roadmap. You will provide your technical expertise in building microservices-based application leveraging modern cloud services aligned with the technology governance standards and current methodologies for the Property & Casualty (P&C) Solutions business of Swiss Re. In this role, you will also be responsible for collaborating with global teams and external partners during all phases of the product development lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, development and creation of proof of concept for our product application solutions.
• Be in charge of designing, maintaining and extend application architectures artifacts.
• Participate in Design & Code reviews and actively engage in Review sessions.
• Collaborate with peers to drive the application architecture best practices leveraging the modern cloud services for our product portfolio.
• Keep up with technology trends and identify promising new solutions that meet our requirements.
• Provides hands-on troubleshooting and consulting for solution challenges when needed

• Defining/improving standard methodologies for building, testing and deploying of applications

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using .NET Core and Angular.
• Integrate securely with Azure services, especially Key Vault and Service Bus.
• Implement best practices for security, performance, and scalability in cloud-native apps.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and QA to deliver business value.
• Document system designs, workflows, and technical solutions.

Skills and Experience:

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong backend development experience using .NET Core (C#).
• Proficient in Angular (v9 or above) for frontend application development.
• Hands-on experience with Azure PaaS services:
• Azure App Services, Azure Storage, Azure SQL.
• Azure Key Vault for secrets and credential management.
• Azure Service Bus for messaging and decoupled communication.
• Expertise in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Entity Framework Core, LINQ, and relational database design.
• Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
• Strong understanding of application security, performance tuning, and cloud best practices.

Good to Have:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployment.
• Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools such as Application Insights, Serilog, or OpenTelemetry.
• Unit and integration testing using xUnit, NUnit, or similar frameworks.
