Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities:
Java Telecom Engineer to work on the development, integration, and transition of NG911 systems with GEMMA Core. The role involves working with VoIP, SIP, RTP, XMPP, and emergency services protocols to ensure the seamless operation of next-generation 911 call-handling solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate Java-based telecom applications for NG911 and GEMMA Core.
- Implement SIP-based VoIP solutions for emergency call routing.
- Work with RTP/SRTP for secure audio/video streaming.
- Integrate location-based routing (LoST, PIDF-LO, HELD) into NG911 systems.
- Implement XMPP-based messaging for real-time emergency communications.
- Secure telecom protocols using TLS, IPsec, HTTPS.
- Work with MPLS networking, SS7 interworking, and NG911 ESInet.
- Collaborate with GIS teams to support geospatial call routing.
- Maintain and optimize low-latency, high-availability telecom systems Skills & Experience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Java development for telecom systems & Public Safety Domain.
- Strong expertise in SIP, RTP, SRTP, and WebRTC for VoIP call handling.
- Experience with JAIN SIP, JSMPP, Smack API (XMPP), and Java Media Framework (JMF).
- Hands-on experience with MPLS, IPsec, VPNs, and secure networking.
- Understanding of NG911 standards (NENA i3), emergency call routing, and GIS.
- Familiarity with SS7, ISUP, and PSTN to IP transition.
- Strong experience in multithreading, performance tuning, and real-time systems.
- Knowledge of cloud-based VoIP solutions (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack) is a plus.
- Certifications in VoIP, SIP, or Cloud Telecom (Cisco, Avaya, AWS, etc.).
- Experience working with GEMMA Core, Atos, Unify, or MyTel platforms.
- Familiarity with emergency services regulations (FCC, NENA, EENA).
