Your Role
As an AMP Technical Lead, you will take endtoend technical ownership of the Automation Management Platform (AMP)a customer-facing DevOpsinabox solution. You will lead architecture, roadmap planning, delivery execution, and team leadership, while ensuring scalable, secure, and operationally robust platform deployments across onprem and constrained environments.
In this role, you will:
Technical Ownership of AMP
- Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of AMP as a turnkey DevOps platform.
- Define and enhance the AMP reference architecture across Kubernetes (RKE2), Jenkins, Gitea, Nexus, certmanager, Argo CD, and future tools such as Backstage.
Team Leadership & Delivery
- Lead a small engineering team (23 engineers), providing technical direction, mentoring, and daily execution guidance.
- Assign work, track progress, and ensure alignment with roadmap goals.
- Own the quality, security, maintainability, and documentation of team outputs.
- Promote best engineering practicescode reviews, testing, release processes, and operational readiness.
Installer, Bootstrap, and Packaging
- Own the design and enhancement of the AMP self-installer.
- Develop Ansiblebased Kubernetes (RKE2) bootstrap solutions on RHEL.
- Manage bundling of container images, Helm charts, and configuration files.
- Ensure AMP deploys reliably in onprem, constrained, and airgapped environments.
Platform Engineering & Automation
- Design and implement platform automation using Python, Go, Bash, and Ansible.
- Configure and automate:
- Jenkins (including PiNK/Kubernetes agents)
- Sonatype Nexus
- Gitea + PostgreSQL
- Argo CD
- certmanager
- Build reusable automation patterns for multicustomer deployments using GitOps methodologies.
Backup, Restore & Resilience
- Define, implement, and document a comprehensive backup/restore strategy for AMP.
- Cover application data, clusterlevel state, and secrets.
- Integrate solutions such as Velero where appropriate.
- Validate procedures to ensure customer and services team readiness.
Security, Hardening & Compliance
- Drive security hardening across the AMP ecosystem (RBAC, TLS, cert rotation, secrets management, image provenance).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to meet regulatory and enterprise standards.
- Define secure configuration patterns for Jenkins, Nexus, Gitea, and related components.
Collaboration with Product Management & Services
- Work closely with Product Management to shape the AMP roadmap.
- Translate service and customer requirements into actionable technical deliverables.
- Support pilots, PoCs, and rollouts with documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Capture field feedback and incorporate improvements into the solution landscape.
Integration with Grid Software & Internal Platforms
- Ensure AMP provides a consistent landing zone for Grid Software solutions via Argo CD, Helm, and Ansible.
- Align AMP with internal platforms (CI/CD Blueprint, Backstage, Vulcan) to reuse strategy and maintain consistency.
Collaboration, Documentation & Enablement
- Produce clear technical documentationinstallation, configuration, backup/restore, operational runbooks.
- Provide guidance and training to services and customer operations teams.
- Contribute to internal technical standards and architecture reviews.
Your Profile
Core Engineering Skills
- Strong backend/platform engineering experience using Python and/or Go; strong Bash/Ansible scripting.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, secure development practices, and REST API implementation.
Kubernetes & OnPrem Platform Expertise
- Deep experience with Kubernetes (RKE2 or similar).
- Hands-on experience with cluster provisioning, upgrades, day2 operations.
- Strong knowledge of Helm-based workload deployments.
- Experience with GitOps (preferably Argo CD) and certificate management tools like certmanager.
- Experience integrating/operating DevOps tools on Kubernetes:
- Jenkins (with Kubernetes/PodmaninKubernetes agents)
- Sonatype Nexus
- Gitea
- PostgreSQL or similar databases
Automation, CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Good knowledge of IaC tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Strong understanding of software lifecycle management, artifact management, and environment promotion workflows.
Data & Cloud (Desirable)
- Experience with SQL databasesPostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle.
- Exposure to AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda).
- Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, PowerBI).
Developer Portal / UX (Desirable)
- Experience with Backstage, software catalogs, or internal developer platforms is a plus.
Education Qualification
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a STEM discipline with advanced professional experience.
