We are building an AI-first product team. Claude Code is our primary AI development tool, and you will be a core contributor to that culture from day one.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled AI-Native Software Engineer with strong full-stack expertise, a TypeScript-first mindset, and a genuine AI-first approach to development. The ideal candidate is proficient in both front-end and back-end development, experienced with PostgreSQL and MongoDB in production, and uses Claude Code as their primary AI coding tool daily.

Responsibilities

• Design and build user-facing features with a relentless focus on performance and user experience.
• Develop and maintain scalable back-end services, REST APIs, and databases (PostgreSQL and MongoDB) using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Use Claude Code as your primary AI development tool daily for code generation, debugging, documentation, and architectural reasoning. GitHub Copilot or Cursor are also welcome.
• Collaborate closely with the Associate Product Lead and SDET in an agile pod.
• Write clean, strongly-typed, modular, and well-documented TypeScript code. AI drafts; you own the quality.
• Integrate with payment gateways, third-party fintech APIs, and internal microservices.
• Optimise applications for speed, scalability, and security in a high-transaction-volume fintech context.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with urgency and own root cause analysis end-to-end.
• Contribute to internal technical documentation and mentor junior team members when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript - this is our primary language, not a bonus.
• Thorough understanding of React.js and Node.js in production environments.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL: schema design, complex queries, indexing, and transactions.
• Proficient understanding of MongoDB: aggregation framework, schema design, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and modern auth mechanisms (JWT, OAuth).
• Experience with front-end tooling: Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
• Comfort with Git and version control best practices in a team environment.
• AI-First (Mandatory): Active daily user of Claude Code or equivalent AI coding tool. Must demonstrate a real AI-assisted development workflow.

Preferred Skills

• PostgreSQL: complex joins, indexing strategies, and ORMs (Prisma or TypeORM preferred).
• MongoDB: aggregation pipelines, indexing, and schema design for high-read/write workloads.
• Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerisation workflows.
• Background in fintech, payments, POS, or high-transaction-volume systems.
• Knowledge of performance testing frameworks and optimisation strategies.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of hands-on full-stack development experience with TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (Claude Code preferred) in a professional software development context.
