The Role

We're looking for an AI Engineering Lead to own and scale our AI infrastructure. You'll lead a team building conversational AI bots, recommendation systems, and predictive models that directly impact millions of students' careers.

This is a founding-level technical role with significant ownership, equity, and the opportunity to shape AI strategy from the ground up.

What You'll DoAI Bot Development (40%)
  • Lead development of 9 AI-powered bots: Student Bots: Career Guidance, Education Help, Mental Wellness, Company Research
  • Professor Bots: Assessment, Grading, Lecture Planning, Research, Case Study, Course Materials
  • Design conversation flows, prompt engineering, and context management
  • Implement safety guardrails, especially for mental wellness bot (crisis detection, human handoff)
  • Optimize token usage and latency for real-time interactions
ML/AI Systems (30%)
  • Build EQ & Employability Scoring models using behavioral and assessment data
  • Develop Cultural Fit Matching algorithms for student-company pairing
  • Create Placement Prediction models at department/college level
  • Design recommendation engines for job matching and skill gap analysis
Architecture & Infrastructure (20%)
  • Architect scalable AI pipelines on cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)
  • Integrate with Claude API, implement fallbacks, caching, and rate limiting
  • Build RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems for context-aware responses
  • Design vector databases for semantic search across resumes, JDs, and course content
Team Leadership (10%)
  • Hire and mentor a team of 3-5 AI/ML engineers
  • Establish AI development best practices, code review standards, and documentation
  • Collaborate with product, backend, and frontend teams
  • Present technical roadmaps to leadership and investors
What You BringMust Have
  • 5+ years in ML/AI engineering, with 2+ years in NLP/LLMs
  • Production experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini)
  • Strong Python skills; experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
  • Hands-on with prompt engineering , fine-tuning, and RAG architectures
  • Experience building conversational AI or chatbot systems at scale
  • Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, pgvector)
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and API design
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, or Azure ML)
Nice to Have
  • Experience in EdTech, HR Tech, or Career platforms
  • Background in psychometrics, assessments, or behavioral analysis
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot/Java backend systems
  • Experience with Kafka, Redis for real-time data pipelines
  • Published research or contributions to open-source AI projects
  • Prior startup experience or 0-to-1 product building
