AEM System Administrator Position

About the Role

The Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) System Administrator plays a crucial role in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of the AEM platform. This position involves setting up AEM within a development environment hosted on AWS (on-premises), and requires close collaboration with developers, DevOps personnel, security teams, and marketing staff. The administrator is responsible for ensuring the AEM system is up-to-date, scalable, carefully monitored, and compliant with all relevant standards. This hands-on role demands expertise in AEM administrationincluding Dispatcher and web server configuration, some understanding of the continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), as well as management of both cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Must have

• Administer SSL/TLS, certificates and keystores, headers (CSP, HSTS, clickjacking), and manage IP allow/deny lists in AWS and Apache configurations.
• Address vulnerabilities identified by security scans and maintained least-privilege access for system users.
• Understand and work on CI/CD pipelines for deploying AEM code to AWS-hosted development environments using Opsera tool.
• Enforce deployment quality gates, perform code scanning, and manage rollout and backout procedures.
• Establish and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting for AWS-hosted AEM development environments with tools like AWS CloudWatch and Splunk.
• Oversee regular maintenance tasks, such as repository compaction, datastore cleanup, and reindexing.
• Automate startup and shutdown processes, service management, and operating system or middleware patching for EC2-based AEM instances.

Good to Have

• Install and configure essential software components, including Java (specifically Java 21), Apache HTTP Server, Dispatcher, Maven, and other required tools on AWS EC2 instances.
• Ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of development.
• Conduct complete installations and configurations of AEM Author and Publisher instances, applying necessary service packs and cumulative fixes for Dev environment hosted in AWS.
• Configure AEM system settings and integrationssuch as connections with AWS services or other enterprise systemsand perform thorough sanity checks after setup.
• Implement and configure Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions, such as SAML or OAuth, for AEM access as needed.

Required Qualifications

Must Have

• Solid experience with Linux administration, shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python), and JVM tuning (specifically Java 21).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging configuration (AWS CloudWatch, Splunk) and incident response within AWS environments.
• Understanding of web fundamentals including HTTP, TLS, CDNs, DNS, load balancing, and security best practices for AWS-hosted applications.

Good to have

• Advanced knowledge of Apache HTTP Server and Dispatcher configuration, as well as caching strategies and cache invalidation.
