Brief Description about the JLR ADAS:
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is developing state-of-the-art automated driving systems for worldwide deployment. As part of JLR ADAS team your task will be to support the development of the future ADAS system generation, which will see our vehicle progressing to full autonomous driving, referred to as an L4+ autonomous driving system, by 2030.
In order to fulfil this vision, JLR is working on specific software functionalities developments that aim to build in house software modules in order to maximize components reusability and robustness in the future landscape of autonomous driving.
Role as a Tech Lead
- Lead technical delivery across multiple subsystems, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and scope.
- Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams, product owners, and stakeholders to maintain alignment.
- Provide architectural guidance and enforce best practices in software development.
- Review technical designs, code quality, and integration strategies to ensure robustness and scalability.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the development cycle.
- Own end-to-end feature delivery, including integration, and proactively coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve blockers.
- Track and report quality metrics to management, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand OS architecture and automotive middleware design (preferably for ADAS systems).
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and undertake diverse technical tasks.
- Mentor junior software engineers and communicate findings through clear presentations and reports.
- Ensure software lifecycle integrity by applying standards such as IEEE 1012, ISO26262, and ISO/IEC 12207.
- Drive intelligent software design and development to minimize rework and optimize embedded software stacks.
- Apply high-level architectural and low-level design patterns to solve complex software problems.
- Utilize design modelling tools (e.g., MSOSA) to create robust software architectures and ensure subsystem collaboration.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, and JIRA.
- Coordinate with global teams to deliver end-to-end architectural solutions.
- Contribute to product roadmap development and future forecasting.
- Liaise with wider JLR teams to align platform architecture with organizational goals.
Key Performance Indicators
- Compliance with industry standards (ISO26262, ASPICE, IEEE 1012) in all design and development phases.
- Successful ownership and delivery of ADAS platform features from concept to production.
- Timely integration of middleware and platform services across ECUs.
- Effective collaboration with system architects, hardware teams, and domain experts.
- Continuous improvement in CI/CD pipeline efficiency and software delivery timelines.
- Quality metrics adherence (e.g., maintainability, scalability, and security of codebase).
- Achievement of defined Key Performance Software Indices (KPIs).
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience :
Essential
- Bachelors degreein Electronics &Telecommunication, Computer Science and Engineering OR Electrical Engineering
- Working knowledge of a S/W intensive complexJLR program involving multiple suppliers and stakeholders in Bangalore and world-wide
- A minimum of 12+ yearsof experience in Automotive industry (preferably in automotive S/W)
- Ability to build robust technical solutions and work in close partnership with product, architecture and business leadership to achieve optimum degree of integration and operational synergy
- Experience doingGap Analysis (Requirements vs Implementation)
- Experience in preparing workbreakdown structure and support in task planning and resource planning
- Track record of challenging the status quo and driving continuous improvements to improve S/W quality, and time-to-market
- A proven record for recognizing and developing talent within the organization to help fosterstaff development and company loyalty
- Cross-functional team interaction and ensure the customer quality standards.
- Knowledge of Software QualityProcesses and Methodology
- Excellent communication skills to work with various component owners and suppliers, challenge the delivery strategy and train the teams towards a fool-proof integrated system
- Experience of working in ASPICE accredited automotive S/W T1 or Services company
- Knowledge of Agile, DevOps,SAFe framework
- Defining, ensuring and balancing the quality of the code base by looking at potential trade-offs amongst metrics such as scalability, maintainability, reusability, flexibility, performance, security and backwards compatibility.
- Has a good knowhow of the coding standards and know how to write clean, easy and maintainable code.
- Has a product first mindset and is willing to take strong decisions to allow his/her team to clean/refactor codebase (if thesituation would arise)and explain the business benefits to the management from the same
- A thorough understanding of theS/W development life cycle
- Good knowledge of ISO-9001, ASPICE3.0, ISO26262, ISO/IEC 12207 standards
- Knowledge of ASPICE, FUSA etc
- Experience in designing the ECU level architecture for one or more domains like health management/ Power management/ Diagnostics solutions
- Experience with state machine driven design and development for complex features and design decompositions.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate the teams, work efficiently and deliver on time in a fast-paced work
environment
- Ability to deliver presentations and efficiently communicate to senior executives both internally
and externally
- Experience in an HLOS such as Linux/QNX and automotive embedded units
- Experience in IPCs, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and automotive protocols such as CAN, Ethernet etc
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming and Design Principles.
- Deep expertise in Classic AUTOSAR (BSW configuration, MCAL, Communication Stack).
- Knowledge of Classic and Adaptive AUTOSAR
- Proficiency with CANoe, CANape, WireShark and AUTOSAR toolchains.
- Familiarity with requirement engineering tools, architecture fundamentals.
- Experience in a classic/adaptive autosar and automotive embedded unitssuch as clusters
- Experience functional safetyfor automotive
- Hands-on with tools such as DOORS, TRM, EA, MSOSA, DaVinci, PREEvision, MATLAB etc
- Experience in Git, Confluence, JIRA, UDS tools, data collection and log analysis.
- Configure and validate Basic Software using industry-standard tools (DaVinci Developer, EB Tresos, Vector CANoe).
