Job Description
Role as a Defect Triage Lead:
Defect Management
- Organize and lead regular defect triage meetings.
- Review new defects for completeness, reproducibility, and severity.
- Ensure defects are categorized and prioritized according to business impact.
- Assign defects to appropriate teams for resolution and track progress.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as liaison between QA, development, SW architects, and support teams.
- Provide clear communication on defect status, risks, and timelines.
- Escalate critical issues to stakeholders and ensure timely resolution.
Process Improvement
- Define and refine defect triage workflows and best practices.
- Monitor defect trends and provide insights to improve product quality.
- Recommend preventive measures to reduce recurring issues.
Reporting & Metrics
- Maintain defect dashboards and reports for leadership visibility.
- Track KPIs such as defect density, resolution time, and backlog health.
- Provide regular updates on triage outcomes and quality metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver effective test and defect triage solutions for ADAS software platform subsystems.
- Analyse software logs to identify root causes and provide RCA.
- Detect gaps from issue trends and implement test solutions to address them.
- Develop strong system-level understanding and serve as the primary contact for initial analysis.
- Manage complex defects end-to-end, including analysis, root cause identification, and resolution with stakeholders.
- Present project and issue status to management using data-driven insights.
- Oversee daily defect management and coordinate with product owners to maintain program timelines.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to expedite RCA and fixes.
- Participate in daily agile stand-ups to plan sprint activities.
- Ensure JIRA entries for each SIMS are updated with RCA, deadlines, and stakeholder details.
- Address vehicle-related issues in coordination with integration teams.
- Apply structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 3x5 Why, Pareto principle, RCA).
- Create mind maps for recurring subsystem issues.
- Triage vehicle assessment feedback with SMEs and architects.
- Maintain regular engagement with key stakeholders.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Ensure timely root cause analysis (RCA) for defects within agreed SLAs.
- Identify testing gaps and implement corrective actions within project timelines.
- Achieve defect burn-down targets by driving rapid RCA, implementing fixes, and prioritizing integration activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelors degree in Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 10+ years in software testing and defect triage, with at least 6+ years in the automotive domain.
- Proven ability to work independently and prioritize workload for self and team.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of ECU architecture and automotive embedded systems.
- Basic knowledge in C and C++ programming.
- Basic knowledge of operating systems such as Linux and QNX.
- Familiarity with Classic and Adaptive AUTOSAR.
Tools & Methodologies
- Expertise in JIRA for queries, dashboards, and KPI reporting.
- Hands-on experience with CANoe, CANape, WireShark, and AUTOSAR toolchains.
- Knowledge of ASPICE and functional safety (FUSA).
- Experience in Agile development and structured problem-solving techniques (FMEA, Fishbone, IS/IS-NOT).
Domain Knowledge
- Working knowledge of complex software-intensive automotive programs involving multiple suppliers.
- Good understanding of ADAS middle-layer software.
Tools & Technologies
- Familiarity with requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS).
- Basic hands-on with Git, Confluence, UDS tools, and log analysis.
- Ability to configure and validate Basic Software using Automotive industry-standard tools.
Hardware & Validation
- Experience in setting up hardware in lab and vehicle environments.
- Knowledge of automotive hardware components (CAN case, power supply, debuggers, function generators).
Standards & Processes
- Experience in ASPICE-accredited automotive software environments.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards and methodologies.
